Was starting a new game and can not attack because it says I'm out of range yet you can see in the photo the xeno is only 3 squares from me and the starting gun has a range of 4.

Ok, my bad here. Just double check and the gun says it only has a range of three. Is this new?

I've killed all the xenos and now can't get out of the room. The door will not unlock.

A few extra notes for you real quick.
When the xenos attack me and I get a counter attack, I can hit them with my sword. This bug is effecting both Android and Windows.
My Windows new game did see that I killed all three xenos and let me out of the first room to get to Soldier Dalan.
When checking things from the Load Out screen, I noticed that Slash did not list a range for the attack.

When checking things from the Load Out screen, I noticed that Slash did not list a range for the attack. Melee attacks do not list range. We are fixing the bug now. It affects all platforms.
