I'm not sure how it is supposed to work but the way you find out that you have too many turrets is really terrible right now. It just cost me my best run at the Lich level so far.
I'd never experimented with the turret resupply ordnance before but I was pretty happy to have four turrets around my TP and when I got the money I thought "what the heck, if 4 is good, 6 will be better." I looked in the library and it just says that each level will enforce a maximum number of turrets, but I couldn't seem to find that listed anywhere so I just decided to try. Bought the ordnance placed the first turret and repositioned my soldiers. Then when I went to put on Overwatch I get some message about too many turrets and it won't let me place the box. I try my other turrets. No luck changing their OW boxes either. My soldiers are already out of position, but I think I can use them to cover what I need. No luck, soldiers can't even place over-watch boxes when there are too many turrets. So without being able to place new OW boxes I hit "end turn" and watch the xenos come streaming into the TP area and deliver big hits on my soldiers and multiple turrets. Very uncool.
Just to be clear, I'm not complaining that we can't build loads of turrets. Too many would be game breaking. But if placing another turret is going to stop us from being able to move and set new OW boxes then we should never be able to build it. In fact it would be nice if we knew how many turrets we could build so that we wouldn't waste the 200 francs on unusable ordnance to find out.
