Okay so is the "finding your captains homeworld" only possible on impossible? I know the award is only issued on impossible but is it possible to find your birthright on demanding and just not get an award? Also is there some cool text/story once you do find the homeworld? No spoiler though please if there is. Just a simple yes/no.

No you can get the award on any difficulty but you only unlock the ship on impossible
And no as far as i can tell it's just the award and the fact that you know where it is

There is no cool text or story, just a small flashback that is almost unnoticeable

Yup, your father was a heavily decorated, well respected captain, with a reputation of being strong, fair, and honest. In fact, he had just been assigned his first undercover mission, where he was to infiltrate a spice manufacturing facility on the planet of ________ (Redacted) , and identify the key individuals that were causing a flood of illicit spice onto the market.
He was sent out with a hand-picked crew, his trusted first mate and a pilot officer. The ship and the captain are currently officially listed as MIA, although according to the hall of records, the last captain's logs were as follows:
32.37AE. I'm a week away from my rendezvous with the spice manufacturers. This is my first undercover mission and I am conscious of the fact that I have normally avoided spice conumption as it can clearly degrade my performance. Nonetheless, I've studied the effects of Spice, and have cautiously tested some diluted product in order to gain first-hand experience. My pilot Officer, Ima. Ms Stoner, said she has a special pill that stops spice from being adictive. I've started taking thatin preparation. She's a brilliant pilot so I have no doubt she knows what she's talking about.
32.38AE. First meetings have gone well. The manufacturers have accepted my cover story, and have invited me onto their station to test the locally manufacturered product. Ima, err Ms Stoner has asked to come along, and I am appreciative of Ima's support.
32.38AE Supplemental. That spice stuff is pretty damned powerful! I took two more of Ima's tablet/pills to counter the effects. I don't know how Ms Stoner does it. She ploughed into the spice, impressing all of the manufacturers and increasing their confidence of us and our coverstory. I will be submitting a recommendation that Ms Stoner, Ima, receive a commendation after this mission.
32.39AE. Negotiationz has gone well. I've mets the farmers and theys shown me their growing processs. It seems sooo easy. Did you know Ima's a cat? At least that's the DNA she had spliced into hers apppparently. Makes her reflexes soooooo fast. Spice is pretty damned good. Cats are cute. Anyone who hates cats should be fed to a Steel Song spicer.
32.40AE. That pill/tablet thingy that Ima's been feeeding me. It's for catnip addiction! I can't believe that Ima Stoner thought it would stop spice addiction. Did you know pilots take spice to help them fly good? I did not know! I also found out that a straight line is actually a circle with an infinite radius. Mind. Blown.
32.44AE. Thort I'd check in. Crew gone native. Pilot officer the only one not affected to this spice, glorious spice. Might try my hand at growing some. Spice that is. Not hands. Growing hands! That's some mad crap right there! Started seeing Ima and decided that it was against some policy or other. So I hereby resign my commission.
32.47AE. Oh - is this thing still turned on? I'm burying the ship in some shhhhhhhhhhhh secret caves. It's pretty crappy - no Jango, so won't be missed. Gonna grow me some spice. It's my duty as adding more supply will drop the prices in the market. I'm helping the quadrant!
