Count me in among the people who want the navigational D-pad removed.
I think you should also remove the map you get when you tap on the blue arrow (the new thing that has a close button) As far as I can tell it provides no functionality that you do not get by tapping on the grid.
The label for the grid should say 'Tap for map' not 'Click for map'.
I really miss the ability to tap on the N S E or W boundary of the square you are in to walk to the next area in that direction. For me that was the only use for the navigational map (the thing that used to have a compass and now has an arrow) in the first place, so if it is not there, then all the more reason to remove this map, and the whole blue arrow button. If the funtionality is to return, I would prefer it integrated with the grid map in any case.
If you are going to have 2 maps, then for consistency your place on the map should either be a red 'you are here' locater' both places or a green one both places, but not green with the grid-map and red with the button map.

On further reflection, what I would really like is something you can buy at the store, either as an add-on for your computer, or as an implant, that will give you the ability to navigate better. So it would automatically plot a course for you to either region boundaries or to places you want to visit. Without the add-on you are only shown where the place is, and you have to navigate there yourself. Very expensive add-ons would let you navigate in a multi-region way. (And the car for purchase, I mentioned in the features thread I would like to see, would have this sort of stuff as a standard feature, or maybe this would be an add-on you could purchase for your car.)
Also what I would like is a way to sort the destinations by 'distance from where you are now'. This could be part of your navigational add-on

@travis - thanks for the feedback. There are already a few options for alternative transportation (tunnels, boats, ferries) that can get you around the walls or across the city in different ways without a taxi, and more will be added (heli-pads, other faction specific options). grävling - the label will be fixed to "Tap for Map" in the next release.

OK. It's just frustrating at times running into the walls in 3 directions. I'm not sure(doing research) but I assume the walls are like some kind of blocker to keep gangs separated?

OK. Question nyktos. Is it possible to navigate the entire map on foot? I don't think you can.

its on my sig, and unrooted... for now. but...
as far as i know, i read about backdoors & possible water area exits
and so im thinking there are dock areas you may explore / exploit, or door to enter - that you cannot see... (back side of a building?)
