Great stuff, can't wait to get my hands on it and start trying to break it. Did notice one obvious error though on your Character sheet....no way she hates Thulun, everyone loves Thulun, obviously you meant Rychart but had a brain Cramp moment due to lack of sufficent W-F!

From someone with minimal Star Traders experience, it certainly sounds extremely impressive and visually it looks great. With that said, to me it sounds like it might be a bit too much. I was already overwhelmed at the start with the original Star Traders. There's a lot of things to manage and keep track of: Fuel with extreme variance in consumption (Green vs Red, random sail damage, ect), your relationship with all the factions and the relations between all of them, your crew morale and from which planets you recently recruited people, trade quantities and recent purchases, all the various rumors running around, your ship systems status... I think it's safe to say that the biggest appeal of your games is how complex they are compared to most other mobile games (I like Heroes of Steel a lot personally). But they are still games on mobile platforms, which (I assume) are generally played more in short bursts instead of long periods. I found myself having some problems picking back up Star Traders on different days (Woops, half my guns were offline, I was going that way to finish this quest, ect), but it's manageable. But managing individual crew members sounds a bit much, especially with how expendable they are (at least in the original). I know it says that we don't have to manage the "grunts", but... We see traits like "Hate Thulun", so won't we have to at least watch things like that to avoid problems even with basic grunts? And then spend a lot of time finding crewmembers with the required skills, only to have all of them die to the next torpedo that's shot at you. In other words, does Star Traders 2 constantly require the player to micro-manage everything to play the game, and always remember an incredible amount of factors even at a basic level of play? In other words, can a player kind of "wing it" and skip some of the finer details at normal difficulty levels and do kind of okay, or do you always need to spend a ton of time planning everything and micromanage everything? Allowing the player benefits from spending a lot of planning and effort and allowing them to delve in details if they want is a good thing (especially on higher difficulties), but blocking the basic gameplay behind a wall of micromanagement might cut on the potential audience (and sales by the same token). But I did see the following line: "As we designed and now build out the systems for Star Traders 2, we are constantly watching the push and pull between depth of detail and speed of play." so I'm probably 'worried' for nothing

ayra - thanks for the post and the feedback. The design razor in ST2 is to provide the level of depth but not require you to micro-manage your crew. "Speed play with one hand" is something Cory and I both love to do with ST RPG. We will be sure that this same style of fast-and-loose play is available in ST2. If you want to dig in, it will all be there.

Who hates Thulun? Give me sector coords please. Lol I kinda do. They always have to start fights with me and their warships. At least DeValtos sends only pirates mostly. Thulun sends warships to further sink my rep. :/

What are you hiding from Thulun to not let their warship search you? Trade permit and they will not search you. Lol

Ok, sorry about the derail train. We were asked for comments.
Yes, the game does seem to carry much more depth across the board. I love in depth games where I control many things at once. Not every person would want that and it seems that TB has left it a choice to how in depth do you want to be.
It also seems you have added a black market to the mix, THANK YOU. It adds flesh and realism to us that play criminals. I can only hope for a better fleshed out true pirate vs a privateer. I know that may be hard to achieve with the economics of the game and faction politics. When I use the term pirate I mean black flag pirate, allied to no faction, a true criminal that shows no mercy. A privateer works for factions for profit and fame where their military cannot be shady without full out war. Example, Spain could not have that much gold (they would conquer the world) so the English and French hired captains to cause all the harm and damage they could to the Spanish. Captain Henry Morgan was an English Privateer. Black Beard was a Pirate.
Fret not, I will buy ST2 regardless. TB knows their s**t and I love the ST universe.

Fret not, I will buy ST2 regardless. TB knows their s**t and I love the ST universe. I love the lore of Star Traders. I'm the kinda guy who wants to know everything there is to know about a game's universe when I really like it, and ST is no exception. The only problem is relatively little is known (or known to be canon rather than just speculation) and what there is has to be dug up here. Just nore reasons to look forward to the lore PDF!
