This is going to seem like a stupid question, I'm sure, but why would -mp gear allow for better cooling? Is it just always coupled with +heat? Are you guys going to blow my mind? I've just been pumping up willpower on all of my Templars and eating the ~-10hp a turn, haha. As of two updates ago, -MP armor and buffs both cause your Templar to burn heat as if those MP existed but were not used. Even if you buff movement? On the Hardcore Ironman, I'm thinking about focusing on Soldiers for the early stages because of heat concerns. Ran one level that way by necessity and with 3 Soldiers I could often give one a break to cool a turn.

algesan - no, the benefit goes away as soon as you start buffing movement.

I've got about 3 levels left on Ironman and wanted to share my build (8.8M honor so far)
Captain: maxed quickness/warrior then willpower/gunnery (tactics@6). Emphasis on Honing and Arc Fire. Melee was only used on counterattacks.
Soldiers: not used except for mandatory missions (and I hope they are swappable in future versions on those missions)
Scout: "super critical but squishy": max focus/stealth then willpower/gunnery. Headshot 10, high crit gear, Mensin-Naga rifle, normally gets 250 damage per shot. Keep them safe and try not to overheat. On some missions, I'll respec them for MP/stealth.
Engineer: high capture to save a turn, throw down turrets to slow down Xeno or act as bait. Heat Sink is important given Ironman heat rules. Some levels, I had two Engineers heat sinking each other to keep the ability alive. Used heat gear when available.
Paladin: super important for the Xenos that get close to do damage. Battlefield Enhancer is great. Max out medic.
Neptune: superstar of the squad. Will deploy two when I can. Suppressing fire 10 keeps all Xenos away. Using heat gear. Still using entry level armor with MK18
Hydra: only used on mandatory missions
Suppressing Fire keeps all melee Xenos away. I always prioritize eliminating Xenos with ranged attacks immediately, or slowing them down and staying out of their range. I rarely ever used any melee attack on this squad.
This is really a great game. I rarely ever finish a game on my phone (<5%) before I start playing something else. I'm on my second playthrough for this one.
