Having thought a bit more about it, I wouldn't want to lock this to Patreon. The more info we share with all the better. Still, cool idea!

I like the idea of additional lore!
Also - probably not the best place to put this, but, it would be cool of there was a central location for lore. Perhaps a sticky thread for each game that has links to lore sources? In another post on the HoS forum I was directed to some lore that was very enjoyable (really adds to the game!). That, plus a few other forum posts I've come across have got me thinking about this. I'm really curious how Star Traders universe relates to HoS. I saw a post somewhere where someone referenced a Star Traders house having Ratkin origins?! Super interesting. Can't remember where I saw it though!

CK, ST and HoS are each unique game universes. There are occasional inside jokes and Easter eggs but they're not connected in terms of the lore. CK is a sci-fi future set on Earth, HoS is about a magical realm and in ST there is no Earth (or it was so long ago that it has been forgotten.)

There is a bar called the Javat Spice Hall in CK, for example.

Pretty sure that you could include Maltese Crosses and various other iconic symbols without anyone screaming copyright infringement. Other companies used them in their games because they are historical icons, but that status more or less makes them un-copyright-able. Yes, but a certain company is very free with threats even about things that are trivial to prove they don't have any legal claim to. Of course, they are just copying the biggest software company in the world. Dec 15, 2015 12:45:30 GMT -6 fallen said:algesan - the Templars of earth are not related to the Templars of Star Traders. Completely separate universes. Sorry, we're going to stick to the pre-existing Templar lore! I'm not sorry. We're going to stick to the lore we've spend the past decade or so building =) Well, aside from a bit of a joke about pistol & blade wielding Soldiers, what we are talking about is an altered paint scheme and such for the Templars of the TB universe to use. I made the comment about using a different style of cross because Cory mentioned avoiding an potential issue with any overzealous claimers of copyrights and trademarks. It has nothing at all to do with the lore of the TB universe, just as another game company's use of the name "Templars" for a group that uses a Hospitaller style Maltese cross has nothing to do with the lore of that universe. Neither does it matter about any specific actual historical group in either case. It's just about a paint job....although it might be fun to be able to have pistol and blade (or fist) Soldiers, just like it would be fun to have a double pistol or pistol and shield Captain, that isn't relevant to new colors and icons for game toons. My apologies for confusing you with a side reference to a game that sits on a shelf because all three of my armies have been gutted.

Thanks for the feedback! We are planning to add more paint jobs down the line.
