It was a hard life especially now that Science Officer Readsabit had the un-thankfull task of trying to compose a history of the last 292 cycles few a mixture of reports, personal notes and random witness statements.
To start with the Great Houses Thulan, Javat and Steel Song had entered the 20 world system out of need to colonize for reasons of basic survival.
The templar fleet imediatly set about exploring the surrounding space while colonization quickly took place at 3 nearby stars which were well placed for water fuel replenishment but not too close to each other as too feel crowded.
Factions decided to concentrate on improving colonies untill more was known about the area and too delay any colonisation (situation permitting) until better methods to do so was discovered or researched.
Meanwhile the templar explorer explored any anomolies using a cautious approach which generally gained positive results or neutral ones (it was decided at such an early stage in faction growth that the least bad news the better).
The two templar defenders set about reconitering surrounding space mapping out systems, asteroids and keeping a lookout for expected xeno repairing any damage from the great voyage on refueling (or damage incurred during search), one ship found the xeno and as xeno forces were light decided to map out xeno space and destroyed a colony ship on way back which took a few cycles and stirred the xeno up a bit.
Then the took turns for a while harassing xeno ships and getting into a few skirmishes, sometimes acting alone at other times pairing up depending on threat (xeno colony ships being a prioty target). With orders to withdraw if major damage was a risk using the asteroid belts too there advantage (refuel and colony approach pathways which there were two main likely paths, including likely future colonisation routes, there was one more but was a long ardious route which was dismissed).
Back to the factions a new conlizing ship was designed with a type 2 module and was put into general production.
Cycle 86 all factions have trade routes in place, up to then faction politics had been surprisingly peace full, maybe due to politics having been invested in and the economy being good with the factions being closely balanced. (As well as the general feeling that the xeno threat was being contained).
Unfortunately this may have led to a general sense of complacency leading up too a few mistakes....
Cycle 89 & 91 HT & SS produce their first colony ships with HT arriving at proposed destination on cycle 94 with unexpected results leading to the resignation of the designer in charge. Apparently the ship design had decided to stick with the old reactors as well as the new type 2 colony module but had not catered for the ability to
either land planet side or deploy cargo, resulting in scraping off 2 ships and CJ stopping production 1cycle short of launch and having too switch projects due too expected hab shortage.
