Now we have the fantastic Dry Dock facility I can soon see myself with a fleet of ships at various locations and forgetting where they all are! A little, 'bookmark this location' option would be fantastic with customisable text for the name. And an ingame notepad would be really nice to jot down interesting facts and notes that don't warrant bookmarks.

I just use AK Notepad and long-press the home key to switch between it and ST:RPG. Works well enough for me that I'd rather Cory put work into enabling the many features he has in store for us...

What if you could write in the Ship's Log? Would that fix it? That part is already done but hidden because we thought it was superfluousness.

It depends on if entries can be edited afterwards. Perhaps a better way would be being able to add items on the Zoom Map. You could select a planet and add "Battleship and Pirate Barge in dry dock here." Then a tiny icon on the planet would remind you that text has been added there.

That is an excellent idea Kelvin, and the notes in ships logs would be good too Cory, as long as they a: stayed at the top or b: were coloured differently and you can filter between auto logs and manual entries

I actually joined the forum specifically to agree with this idea. I would love to be able to leave notes on points in space, be they either deep space or a planet. While writing in my captain's log would be useful as well, it wouldn't be as organized as dropping a glowing dot on a spot in the zoom map.

I really like the idea of being able to write in the ships log. Annotating the automatic journal with extra richness and an aid to remember what I was roleplaying later would be really helpful. I don't really have a problem with finding stuff I have stashed - and I quite like the idea of the captain keeping it all in his head - not trusting anyone and being indispensable kind of thing. "You can't kill me - I'm the only one who knows where the stuff is stashed" I liked how you could mark the map in original Ultima Underworld - The Stygian Abyss (remember that anyone?) I like the feature in other games, and miss it if it is not present. But strangely I do not miss it at all in Star Traders. I suppose if a map marker feature were added no-one would be forcing me to use it.... Here is a vote for enabling the ability to annotate the ships log anyway. +1 dM

Actually, being able to filter your log to show different types of events would be handy as well. After a while, your log gets substantial and scrolling through it is like finding a needle in a haystack.

+1 to both please When playing three or more characters at a time, its easy to lose track of stash/ships and other information. I would love to be able to make map notes as well as update my own logs

slayer -- I will have to work on the filtering, right now to save space I store very little about the log entry to use for filtering. I will strive to improve it in future editions!
(you do mean the ship's log, right?)

Cool, and yes, definitely only the ship log for filtering.

I agree, you find a good planet with resources you want to keep it on a favorites list or have a searchable list by name, some sort of navigation
