Stratos Orbital is proving difficult. The number of foes is just overwhelming. I've never been able to figure out an efficient path through that area so I end up fighting dozens more Xeno than necessary.

Ok, made it past the 2nd level here. As usual with my playstyle, it took quite a while. I also had to use an extraordinary of Paladin heals (I had 3 Pallys out and used a medic ordnance.) I'm trying the research rescue route next, but it is my first time with this map so I'm not sure if I'll make it without trouble.

I think the challenge is that the turrets that are destroyed change each time, so there is no set route.

Oh. Well, I had to destroy two of those turrets personally which hurts a lot when you cannot focus fire with ranged units as well. Also, I guess I've done three levels of Stratos, not two. I didn't know the turrets removed were variable though.

Finished Stratos Orbital. I lost two soliders on the last turn of the last map -- One was hit twice by litches and they both rolled pretty high. The other bravely held up the western defenses alone for almost the entire time but ultimately was overwhelmed by two goliaths and about a dozen skitterings. Grapple only took her so far. This was a pretty fun challenge but I'm not NEARLY good enough to do it on harder difficulties.

It does sound like a crazy amount of fun as the enemies pile up and you just keep punching lol

Was moving pretty fast (264 turns before Narvidian Core mission), but lost Dalan at Hive Ship: Outer mission. 250 hp went down during AI turn due to bad luck. It was hardcore run, so gonna rerun Impressive. What difficulty was this on?

My ironman no-guns run has ended with the Captain's death on Starport Vault. Those narvs are a pain, and mistakenly thought I can blitz the level without engaging with them.
The core team was Captain (Grenades 10), Soldier (Rallying Charge 8-10, Grapple), Engineer (Grapple/Capture/Heat Sink,Landmines 2), Paladin (Battlefield Medic/Enhancers, Warding Fire), Berserker (Grenades 10, Unbalancing Blows 3).
Lost Dalan immediately on Deck 12: Cappa Sector, but found my feet, and levelling up soon smoothed out the initial difficulties. Only the missions that are always hard for me were tricky: Siege at Tundeer, Extermination Protocol, Detonation Site. Not feeling entirely suicidal, I skipped Kaldun.
Random observations: - Cavalry Assault armor (+1 MP, +40 Max Heat) is great for the Paladin and the Berserker. - Landmines are even more useful as decoys than in normal play. - Grappling is effective against turrets and non-melee xeno. - Frag and Assault Grenades are a must. - Maybe the Soldier's Concuss Grenades with their MP hinder could help with narvs.
