OK, so I was exaggerating some what. But the point still stands. The step from my normal appearance to a CK would not be too large or not too much of a surprise to be worthwhile.

That said, where is it set in stone that a CK has to look like a brutish thug? Surely a tuxedo wearing, martini drinking Cyber Knight would be just as valid?

Cyber Knights come in all shapes and sizes. Just because the first one is a lug doesn't mean they all will be (reference, AgentX, Face)
