It never snows in Sydney - and in fact my swimming pool's temperature is 77F (25.3C). It's a bit cold to go into, but someone's gotta do it Australia Day tomorrow. It's a bit like America's 4th of July, except ... hey wait a minute. Why is it that all of America's date references are like Month - Day (because that's how your calendar rolls) ... and yet you don't say July 4 ... instead you say "Fourth of July" ..

Outside Portland Oregon here. Had about an inch of snow a few weeks back which is generally about all we ever get here in the valley's. Otherwise it's mostly 30s-40s with plenty of rain this time of year.

The houses were also cheaper in AZ, that's why we didn't go eastern OR. Still visit in the summer tho.

Why anyone lives in eastern Oregon is beyond me, freaking high desert wasteland, not much on AZ either, though like you I may end up moving that way at some point for the warmer and drier weather being easier on the joints. Get day's now I can barely stand up because the knees are so inflamed.

I've just realized - this is the ultimate thread. It is a thread that cannot, by it's very nature, be derailed in any shape/manner, or form! Whether we talk about amazingly cool books (Randall Munroe's Thing Explainer is COOL), snow storms and balmy pool temperatures, politics (well not politics), or whether a nuclear winter would offset global warming - it's all GOOD!

Global warming is a myth perpetrated by the media and created by corporate greed and political agenda.

Global warming is a myth perpetrated by the media and created by corporate greed and political agenda. How would being forced to take more expensive and laborious ways to manufacture things to avoid hefty fines and penalties be part of the corporate agenda?

Global warming is a myth perpetrated by the media and created by corporate greed and political agenda. How would being forced to take more expensive and laborious ways to manufacture things to avoid hefty fines and penalties be part of the corporate agenda? Because invariably the people pushing those laws/regulations are from other corporate groups that have different/new technology they will profit from. Years ago McDonald's lost a huge amount of money when forced to change from foam packages for their products. They had gone into courts and shown that the paper products they were being forced to switch to would be at least as environmentally unfriendly due to the way they were treated, if not disposed of properly. Further they showed how the manufacturing and recycling of their foam containers could be accomplished with far less environmental impact and at a lower cost overall. The major backers that were pushing the change were rival corporations including Burger King, paper/timber companies looking for greater access to cutting trees and increased market shares. Environmentalists bemone the continued cutting of the Amazon rainforest and other timberland world wide, yet it was their own actions and support of corporations that accelerated the action.

Even if that's true, in the long run we still regulate pollution and are working on carbon emissions and green energy, even if it is to the detriment of corporations. Just look at the Paris climate change summit. All these nations now have legally binding agreements to cut emissions. I don't think that is political or corporate greed there.
