So I find that for me %90 of the game is rerolling. Now, I realize that that is due to my inexperience and failure to play certain ends of the game I'm not familiar with and as I do more of that I'm rerolling less.
Still, I oftwn find myself unwilling to change my starting setup just yet, whatever it may be. I need to explore failure a little more before I come up with a better idea.
Charter creation was really cool the first time but I don't really enjoy building the same charter over and over. I find myself simply not playing because "oh yeah, I gotta build a new charecter."
It looks like I should be able to save some parts. Like the ship or the captain but it doesn't save anything at all. Ft I did get the ship and captain designer.
Tl;dr - All i'I'm asking for is that the starting setup remember itself from the last captain. Profiles I can save and load would just be the cherry on top.

Tell me I'm rerolling too much and I shouldn't have to be burning through 20-30 rerolls just to play the game.
Odds are i don't break 100k before 70AE (exploring) and at that I just barely break the curve. I'm only playing on hard and I hear you guys talk about playing on harder difficulties. Something has to give. Either no one else rerolls this much or I don't understand how this hasn't been requested before. I litterally hate doing this. It's redundant and infuriating.
Now I bought the char creator and ship creator to maximize my options and give me a better start but it just adds to stupid stuff i gotta do before i can play the game.

Maybe i dont explai what i mean by reroll.
Alien? Reroll.
No additional crew quarter in thulun prime? Reroll
Make single stupid mistake? (Forget to recruit, overspend and cant afford trade permit etc.) reroll
Javat mining is having a rumor event making it impossible to explore? Reroll.
Aliens? Reroll
Aliens? Reroll
Did I mention aliens?
Aliens.
More aliens.
Too many encounters trying to land at thulun prime for fist mission, run out of fuel. Crew morale is shot making exploring fruitless. Reroll.
Most of the time bounty hunters and pirates are no big deal. I escape half of the alien emcounters but if i dont get out on that first roll its over.
That's just the first few turns.
Javat mining exploring kills my crew with no return? Reroll
*Don't make 200k by 70AE? Reroll all the above.
Trade embargo on javat? Pirates and bounty hunters get me. One lost run to thulun mining costs me a year, likely Reroll.
Trade embargo on rychart? Reroll. They're my second alliance because of distribution, without them, late game isn't feasable for cross map mission (and picking them up on the return).
*This one is the killer. Should i settle for less than a doom runner? I can't make money for another 20AE or so I'm just trying to stay ahead of the curve. I've tried the paladin transliner but i can't seem to get to 700k for a new ship before the curve takes oy Out such a slow weak ship. Otoh i can't see myself taking advantage of shortage/surplus rumors with only 80 cargo. Doom runner is just a theory. It's been over 100 rerolls since I made a good go with that paladin transliner.

Dont get me started on deleting all these rerolls.
Another nuce optio would be to lock a specific captain or several and "delete all" cuz i dread this process.

chakravanti , you are definitely re-rolling too much. Trying to survive your mistakes and pressing on through bad luck is a big part of this game (,or, at least it is for me). If I can't find the upgrade I'm looking for on one planet, I'll scour the quadrant for it. Unable to explore Javat Mining Outpost? I'd explore another planet (I think there is one with slightly less danger and reward to the southwest of Syndicate Capital, it is a decent alternative for low level exploration). All six factions are embargoed? (Yes this can happen.) I'll take delivery contracts and buy WF from Independents... There is a way out of nearly all bad situations, and you might be surprised how good your luck can get if you press on through the bad.

But the curve. If I spend all the time doing that stuff I'll never get it in time. It's damn near impossible to break the curve when the luck is good.

Totally revamped my strategy. I'm getting a little lucky on the run but i can forgive a lot more for it and it seems to work ok.
Mostly mixing missions and exploring when it takes me that direction. Picked up an exoscout and wow he now and essential part of my new strategy.

If your officer slots are filled when you land you have to take off planet and land again before firing one takes effect. Generally if you have 3 officers and are going to chase a rumor to replace one it's best to fire the officer before heading to destination.

That's definitely a unique way to play the game!
Hopefully you can understand that with one person working on the game and 100,000 people playing it regularly I've got to focus what I spend my time on how the majority of players play.
Have you tried playing on Normal or Basic? On those difficulties you cannot die, so that should cut down on the rerolling.
Once you master Basic, try Normal. Once you master Normal, bump the difficulty up by one. Star Traders is a game of layers -- the higher the difficulty the more layers you need to master. On Basic, you just need to complete Contracts and buy Water-Fuel to stay ahead.
