Ha! Almost nuff said. Just such cool tools to really make each campaign even more unique. Sure I'm a MO, yet my captain starts as a strong, quick pilot/warrior, in a tiny ship designed to slip in quickly and undetected on vital military package and personnel deliveries. I've yet to develop any real charisma or intimidation as a leader, but that will come quickly...if I survive these first few AE! Or I'm a BH, but... What do you do to make you favorite profession unique?

As a military officer, I tend to focus more on raw power and all that. With the custom character stuff, though, I like to put a few points in stealth. Makes it easier to bypass those pesky Javat military patrols...Bastards......One or two points also get put into negotiation, so I can repair my ship for less money. I may be an Admiral, but that doesn't mean I'm loaded with cash. Repairs are expensive>

Tactics and Intimidation suffer, as does Stealth ( I use Stealth early too). However as long as I can get on board, and with high pilot not get hit I dominate. Negotiation would be wise, I've not invested there when MO.Always something to ponder on each XP...lol Friendly rivalary? I favor Javat and hound Thulunn :-)

What!? You favor those Javat scum! Oh, if only Thulun actively hated you guys. I'd decimate your fleets>

I'm pretty sure Corouaari and Gamma-Javat II are still recovering from the blockade I put up a while ago. So, while you out trying to kill off the Thulun fleet (Which you barely dented...), Javat's main planets have been severely crippled. So are we elitists? Yes. Is it with some good reason?...I'd say yes;)

Not much as sad as royalty in decline, unwilling and unable to accept this is not their father's Quadrant anymore. Clinging to the past, all-consumed with image, blinded by arrogance, they stagnate in their own blue-blooded juices. Even as Javat, industrious Javat ascends. Written off by Thulun long ago as blue-collar, non-violent, we have used the blind eye Thulun has turned on us. Perfecting our ships for the up close, dirty work you disdain. Our unheard of +6 Engines designs will attest to this, as would a poll of your Thulun captains, had any survived boarding.

Um...Friend...Last I checked, the Clans kind of need each other. The syndicates kind of out gun us in a great many factors when we're divided. The only reason I, personally, despise you people is because you can't seem to resist attacking me every time I enter your territory!

Um...Friend...Last I checked, the Clans kind of need each other. The syndicates kind of out gun us in a great many factors when we're divided. The only reason I, personally, despise you people is because you can't seem to resist attacking me every time I enter your territory! First I want to make sure this is just in fun, friendly rivalry. As to clans vs syndicates, I mix it up for fun and to suite my role play story line for that captain. Also, as you play MO too, look at choosing your alliances purely from a strategic, where would I WANT additional bases (dry dock, reps, supplies). I know with Indy you can have a base anywhere, but a faction base is almost always superior IMO. I do the pro-clan or pro-syn thing too for the math advantage behind the game's politics, but then you end up with enormous enemy zones and Indy bases. Unless you pander to all, which I've done too, but not tried since moving up to Crazy and reading Corey post the 3/3 strategy. Anyway, as Javat I control one major intersection, picked Rychart for centrality and major intersection, then I can flip-flop with Cadar or DV, edge to DV on centrality and sheer number of planets, edge Cadar for Military stardock- number of reloads etc. Anyway, sorry to ramble. I've read a lot of your contributions here, and it seems you enjoy the MO like I do and get into the strategy. I thought I'd throw my plot twist at you as far as the ally/enemy split.

Yeah. It just seemed to be getting a bit too extreme. You did kind of kill off Thulun in another thread XD

By Shan, the ramblings of these high born military officers.
As a trader, all I know is that Javat loves producing spice, and Thulun love consuming it.

By Shan, the ramblings of these high born military officers. As a trader, all I know is that Javat loves producing spice, and Thulun love consuming it. Nice! I've actually been reading a lot of your Merchant advice. I've just recently been working on adding that to any class. It's just too valuable a part of the game to ignore. Plus, somehow seeing Metal at over 3k a ton when I have a bellyfull can be as exciting as beating a higher lvl MO! I first got ST free to be an Explorer. I thought cool, I can learn the market slowly while learning my map and skills.I quickly saw no matter what class I would have to learn how to fight and build my captain to be rugged. Thus I went to combat captains. But I love the Star Trader class (the title class!) for the idea I can and should it all, and use him and what I learn to transition to pure Explorer and Merchant! Your info has been great so I hope you keep it up. I'd really be hesitant to try these classes again without it.

I always keep in mind a pirate is just a merchant that "buys" from other traders, and sells atthe best price. Because of this, I never have points in Negotiation, and even lower my starting charisma to 5 (this is pretty much the opposite of a true merchant). My Guns do the talking.
