It just lost my save file... (the game simply crashes repeatedly. Tried restarting and was give the very first start up of selecting the four characters) was fighting the red litch and the tower of pain...words fail me of how much id like to burn my memory clean of this game at the thought of replaying all the way through again...

Lost your saved file? How? Why did you delete it?

The game simply crashes... on restart of device Im left with no save game selection option...just characters to select... Oh no, sorry to hear that. The phone must have done something bad to the file ... maybe the SD card is corrupting? The way that HoS stores saved games ... unless the OS has an issue, only valid saved games are written to disk ... and that technology isn't ours and is relied upon by billions file writes every day. Bugs are found every 5-10 years in it. If your phone has corrupted the saved game, I might be able to help if you can send it to me. If your SD card has failed then the repair process is much harder and more likely to fail. I'm happy to try a manual repair for you -- but sounds like your device will be corrupting games on a regular basis until we can figure out why the underlying storage architecture is failing.

Are you sure you're playing the right game -- did you install HoS Free & HoS Elite? Is it possible you accidentally deleted the game files while managing another application?

Running from a Samsung S3. While I appreciate the offer to attempt to rebuild the save file I am just as much interested in being able to cloud restore the game. Can this be incorporated? I realize its too late now for me..

I realize its too late now for me.. We are actively sinking hours into building a cloud save feature for the games every week. Thanks for your patience.

Definitely hard at work on this feature. I put in about 20 hours on it last week.
if you'd like help with the saved files, let me know. Hopefully you can figure out what's up with the device.
Regular Android backups also could help and many solutions are available.

Cory TreseJust some random curiosity on my part but how will you protect integrity of Iron man boards if Cloud backup goes live? I'm sure there are likely workarounds for those who want to "cheat" already but seems like cloud backups would make it very easy for almost anyone. I don't like what just happened in my game? No problem since I've been playing offline so I'll just delete save then hop online and restore my backup.

I don't sign in when I play on my phone so I have no idea what my score.is nor do I care... this is just a book like story to me and that's all I play it for.
Will PM about save file.
BTW play on Elite.

There are various techniques. The saved game file is part of the equation and Google Play provides some interesting anti-cheat options. Ultimately, stopping people who want to bend the rules of the game is very, very hard. Just look at all the AAA studios who struggle with it. As chesspupil points out, anyone can already go get a game hack tool and make Heroes give you extra gold, score or whatever ... but then, bad things can happen to your game / score / Google Account. Google will ban (I mean full-on hard-ban all services) who repeatedly cheat or try to hack Google Play. I've reported a few people who were flagrantly cheating and hacking and I know at least one of them lost his Google account as a result of his transgressions. The most likely solution is ... - Detect cheating (several methods here) - Flag scores in Google Play as "cheaters" - Cheater scores show as normal for the cheater player, but are hidden from all other players - That means the cheater thinks he is winning, and no one else is bothered Since we're the author of the cryptographic control on the saved game, we may also just ban high scores from being sent from games that have ever been restored, or some shade of the concept. Cheating, pirating, hacking ... they're all the same thing in my mind, and Android doesn't do much to stop them. It is a Java environment which fundamentally makes it less secure and easier to hack. Just compare iOS security controls to Android's ... you don't see the FBI trying to add a back door to Android because it is already there and they have multiple sets of keys.

Cory Trese is there a way to block my steam account from posting scores and achievements and such..? I muck around with various tools to poke at the limits I can think of in games, but have no want of those trial runs messing with my regular unaltered play, nor messing with anyone else's valid scores. -I like to find what's possible without breaking the game, sometimes I do , but don't care about scores.

There is no way to opt out of Steam achievements or leaderboards.
I guess we should have saw this one coming as well ... we've been struggling to make sense of some of the outliers in our analytics.
I am now thinking those people are cheating or tweaking and we shouldn't worry about trying to resolve the balance issues their scores seem to be pointing to.
It is a bit of a bummer, makes it harder for us to improve the games not having good data to look at but we'll work around it.
Maybe we'll find a way to give the player an option to opt out of both -- certainly something I might be able to code up.

Tips for keeping your saved game safe:
1. Do not use Game Hacker tools that make unsafe modifications to game memory. Since our games are NOT 100% Java, memory hacks are dangerous. They can and will cause saved game corruption of unknown, unpredictable and unfixable types.
2. Do not restore backups, of any type, while the game is running in the background. If you need to restore a backup, make sure that you have forced the game to quit using the Quit menu or your "Applications" list under "Settings"
