I need help. I am play HOS on a Kindle Fire HDX. The game keeps crashing when I for the second time I kill the Weaver giant spider. The spider limps off toward the exit and the game crashes. I have tried multiple times and in multiple ways to kill the spider and but each time it crashes when the spider heads to the exit. The occurred on 3.30.2016 at about 10PM Central time.
by the way, this is one great game. I have played it for many hours. I hate to have to start over as I bet I have 40 hours invested in this set of level 40 toons.

zagtooth - thanks for the report. I also got your email, sorry I was slow to reply. Can you load up your game and check out the main menu? What is the version number printed there? I suspect that you have an update waiting for you in the Amazon App Store. This bug was fixed a number of releases ago.

Wow, I impressed I got an answer that quickly. You guys are awesome. The version my kindle shows is 4.2.21. I had a notification the other day that said there was a 4.2.33 ( I think). I called up MayDay on the Kindle ( a neat feature) and they walked me through updating the app but said it was updated as far as was allowed by Amazon at this point. I did go some time without updates and uninstalled and reinstalled the app. It did update then but I had to start from scratch. Which was not bad as I have truly enjoyed this game. What you guys have done for the price defies imagination. Anyway, any advice is appreciated. Zag

1. You never have to uninstall our apps to upgrade, they're 100% always perfectly backwards compatible and we've kept it that way for thousands of updates. 2. Check out that bug reporting thread for the info we need to help
Questions: 1. What version of the game are you playing? Heroes of Steel RPG or Heroes of Steel RPG Elite? 2. Are you sure you are using the Amazon version? 3. Are you blocking the crash reporting system? 4. Do you have anything install on the device that would cause the game to crash like that?
Fortunately we have thousands of people going through that level every week and that gives us pretty good confidence that the latest version of the game is working great.
Unfortunately if you are running an Amazon version of the game, something on the device is blocking the crash reporting or causing the application to crash outside of the game. That can be caused by bad service installs from Amazon, bad anti-virus or other misbehaving applications.
Heroes of Steel has minimal permissions -- definitely not enough to protect itself from other applications.

zagtooth - your Kindle is showing 4.2.21 and still having the issue? If you uninstall the game without using some backup app, you will lose your saved games. We never recommend that, as if you have an issue on your device, uninstalling is about 100% guaranteed not to fix the issue.

I read somewhere in the threads that if I hit the Skip All button that might get me by the spider crash. I tried it and it worked. The spider went away and the game did not crash. I am back in business and exceedingly grateful. I will check to make sure the four times you listed above are not an issue. I did start with HOS but upgraded to the Elite version. Zag When you upgraded to the Elite version, do you mean you purchased the "in app" upgrade or that you downloaded and installed the Elite edition from the store? I do not see a crash on 3.30.2016 around 10:05 CST but from the latest version.

I found where the Kindle says it was updated to 4.1.33 today 3/31/2016 but when I open the app it says 4.2.21. Don't know what the issue with the Kindle is. Thanks for your help. Zag

Zag It does sound like you have an older version of the game. v4.1.33 has the bug that would cause the crash at the Weaver. 4.2.21 would not.

Yeah definitely Amazon App Store is full of bugs. We'd recommend anyone buying mobile applications to do so via Google Play for maximum reliability and minimal market issues. Amazon's App Store is certainly easier initially for Kindle users but we've found that Amazon just has so many issues that it tends to not be worth it in the long run. You could try rebooting the Kindle. Sometimes that clears out the issues with Amazon App Store. My own Kindle requires a full factory reset every few months to be able to get OS and App Store updates for games I've purchased during the FAOTD promotions they used to run.

I too hv had recent issues with amazon... Being that my amazon app store won't update and as such HoS is still stuck at 4.1.37 and in trying to force an update it now won't install properly... I did get HoS for free from manipulating amazon coins, so I actually didn't feel bad about repurchasing from Google... Although the loss of my ep4 group still leaves an empty spot in my heart

As an owner of 3 different kindle fires, 2nd, 4th and 5th gen, I can say a few things.
1. Rebooting helps at times like with all computer devices. 2. Free advertizing based apps sometimes screw things up with their notifications, removing those offending apps helps, or running a mem boost/cleanup can kick their excess services out of memory. 3. Sometimes updates don't seem to work right if not plugged in and charging for whatever reason. 4. Sometimes finding the app in the store again and clicking update there fixes some issues - auto update doesn't always work. 5. Make sure there's enough free space left on the device. 6. Sometimes loading games/programs doesn't work right when wifi is on/off, try toggling it when loading (you can turn it back on/off again after app loads) 7. When loading previous purchases sometimes you have to go thru the motions and try to buy it again before Amazon notices you already own the item, so then you get it at no additional cost. -Thanks, Cory, for helping me with that last one.
