Party is level 13 and just starting Torrent Watershed. Trying to play very carefully as am on NMI run.
Currently in battle with Krete and one keeps shooting Kincaid from an extremely long range. Kincaid is currently 9 squares south and 4 squares west of the Krete shooting him. Had thought the Krete maxed out range at 8 squares in Watershed from previous play throughs but now wondering exactly what the range for them is?

I have no clue, if I would have to guess I'd say 10. From all the ranged in the game those things scare me the most... long range, high damage and reasonable avoidance pool and armor.
Krete archers: the reason you need ranged ap removal and multiple characters that can tank otherwise your game will be renamed to pincushions of steel. xD

Luckily it was only Krete Archer to survive initial exchange, rest of Krete in that group were melee types or else had to move before they could attack.

I usually had Vraes standing as a pin cushion and had Tami or Selen shooting from behind. Sometimes the Krete hit them instead of Vraes, but it was uncommon and it didn't normally last more than a couple of turns.

Krete can be such a pain... especially when there is water that eats -2mp/square. In those cases I just play Che Guevara and move back and then rush them once they are in range. Vraes with phalanx shield and dex will make them rather insignificant although during my last playthrough my Vraes was still Str and did not have phalanx shield. In my current playthrough with all 4 "new" heroes I find myself usually playing guerrillia tactics vs ranged.

Their range is definitely 8. Perhaps a Krete in an unexplored square was shooting at you. On fast combat mode they do not draw their bow and maybe you are just assuming it's the one you can see.

Regular combat mode and all squares covered by fog were even further away than the one shooting me. Watched the animation that showed him acting to confirm. Finally moved far enough back that he advanced but still was serious shock getting hit from such extreme range.

In the future, in ANY dubious case, make screenshot.
