This week's Star Traders 4X Empires release brings two major updates to the main galactic view as well as to the enemy turn. We've added path tracing, which shows the path your ships will travel to their destination, as they take into account obstacles (asteroid belts) and red and green sectors for fuel efficiency's sake. The distance you can make in any given turn is shown in blue, the rest in red. We've also added a new option to enable a Fast Enemy Turn. When turned on, this option will reduce the time it takes for the enemy to show their actions during the turn. Their ships will move very fast, and the animations for their combat attacks are skipped. We've also made some improvements to the enemy AI and how they plan their actions and their tech point spend, so watch out. You will find them to be a little sharper. v2.6.5 - 4/7/2016 - Add Path Tracing for Player Ships - Add “Fast Enemy Turn” Option - AI Optimization & Improvements (look out!) - Fixed Text Wrapping in Ship Designer - Fixed Build Costs For Heavy Reactor 19+ - Fixed RP Costs for late game Orbital Tech - Adjusted Maint. I haven't seen this update pushed to the Play Store yet It was pushed to Google Play yesterday at the time this forum post was posted. Sorry that the Google Play servers haven't synced the update to your device. I got mine through Google Play almost 16 hours ago. Sorry -- these are big markets that take care of their own schedule. Google, Steam, Apple, Amazon -- each maintains a unique schedule of how apps go out to update. We have no control over it, all we can do is upload the game.

Well, regardless, I look forward to it! This seems like it'll be very fun to play with.
Edit: got the update, didn't see patch notes on the play store though, could just be me.

Sorry all, I wish Google Play could be more reliable. Nothing else I can do here. You could try going into Android > Settings > Apps > Google Play > Clear Cache.

love the update, path tracing is a great improvement Great to hear! It is especially useful with the new pathing algorithm that is smarter about red & green sectors.

Yeah, the combination of the new algorithm and the path tracing is excellent. The new algorithm without path tracing occasionally led to ships not going where I intended, most note-ably during fight with Xeno where I'd intend a straight line to attack a Xeno ship but the ship would take a fuel conserving course.

Exactly! Once we had the smart-pathing in ... path tracing became all the more important. Anyone playing with Fast Enemy Turn? It's let me crank up the speed on my games a lot when a war is going on.

Not yet, but I'll make a point of trying it out later this week.

fallen , There seems to be a 20 something square limit to the Path Tracing feature on my device (Nexus 7, 2013). If I tap a square beyond that limit, no path is traced. Don't get me wrong, the feature is great, and mos appreciated even with this limitation. I just want to be sure that you are aware of it.

elwoodps - yes, aware of that one. In time, we may find ways to raise the limitation on the distance it can trace, but a big goal was not to reduce performance of the click events by path tracing.

There's another very minor glitch in the Path Tracing that sometimes causes it chooses a longer path, even when it doesn't save fuel. Here's an example: It chooses a 5 move path through Green and Yellow squares (that would take 2 turns), instead of the 4 move path entirely through Green Space (that would get the ship to the same location in 1 turn). Definitely not a big deal, again just thought you'd want to know. I still love the feature.
