I have been play for eons now and have worlds, 3 of them with 6-8 pop and no housing, they have quality of 7-10, the 10 only having 3 minerals. They have 1 morale and have done since not long after colinisation.
Is there any way to confirm that the flip to independants is actually working, I cant see how long it needs to have a red bar before it switches.

It does work. Possibly the Colonies just aren't low Quality enough.

but the game manual states "Those Systems with horrible Quality (6 or less) or those who have 1 Morale for too long will be converted to Independent Colonies." I am refering to the low morale, I have had 1 morale since very early in the game and just pushed them deeper to see what would hapen, but they have never flipped, I am now in mid game, on crazy difficulty, and they are still the same. Unworkable worlds, that I cannot make profitable, and will not leave the federation. www.tresebrothers.com/star-traders-4x-empires/game-manual

But you said ... they have quality of 7-10, So, that combined with the documentation should explain the issue?

no it doesnt, as the documnetation uses the word "OR" not and. so I have morale of 1 and have for a long time. I can delete all habitats and leave it for 50 turns and nothing will happen, they never flip. fallen I am missing your point? because I interpret "OR" differently, maybe?

Sounds like we're not all talking about the same rules. Will do our best to update the documentation in the future!

Sounds like we're not all talking about the same rules. Will do our best to update the documentation in the future! Can you confirm the correct operation in game? "Those Systems with horrible Quality (6 or less)" OR "those who have 1 Morale for too long" "will be converted to Independent Colonies." Very happy for the doco to be updated, I'd just like to properly understand the in-game function as it stands today. BTW... I do appreciate all your games and your commitment to the community. Appologies for being the noisey wheel.

I'll try to find time to think about putting more specific details about how the various attributes of your Empire interact with the vote to abandon a planet. A table by difficulty or something, perhaps.
The player is not intended, at this time, to use forcing a Colony to go Independent as a component of strategy. It is simply a balancing system that protects one end of the equations.
The help file has worked very well for players so far, because people do not use forcing Colony to flip as a game strategy, thus the specific break points by difficulty, planet proximity and Quality are OK being fuzzy.

Once again, I break the mold. It seems like a valid strategy to me, maybe my recent games have not been very lucky, so it seems prudent to force the ejection from the empire. Great if you could help me to understand. Also, is there any info on how over quality and over mining affect things? What are the reprucusions?

Going over Mineral is just a straight up waste of money, no other impact.

So if the mineral of the world is 18 and I mine it to 21. I dont get any extra money, only paying extra maintenance. Does it cause any other damage? Like the mineral max reduces overtime or morale or something?
What about quality, if I install more things above the quality max, do the structures still function, does it cause any damage to the quality or colony morale?

Beyond Mineral max only incurs maintenance penalties.
Above Quality max, all economic functions are the same however Maintenance cost is increased and Morale is decreased.
