I'm new to the game and working out what weapons to use, so I would appreciate any comments on what I've come up with.
Pistols: Raptor II, Blasta for stun. Both give only one shot per attack, so learn to be a good shot.
Auto pistol. I'm not crazy about them, but rapid fire, Mt tactical auto, and steel snake seem OK. I imagine they are best for pistol using runners with poor aim. Extra shots make up for frequent misses.
Rifles. Carbo mag and Mt hunting. If you want rapid fire there's the m21 assault rifle.
Machine guns. Uzi Vii or SMG. Not sure when you would want them. Maybe for a knight that isn't a good shot.
Shotguns: security defender. I don't see what shot guns are good for. Get a Raptor II and you don't need a shoddy.
Gloves: steel enforcer II, Mt taser glove for stun. I'm not crazy about gloves, but martial arts runners gotta have em.
Clubs: doom hammer or thug spike. Perhaps moody hammer. Shocker maul or slam dancer for stun.

Great pics in the weapons.
I love Shotguns as my secondary weapon. They can do some of the most intense damage in the game, and where Pistols will bounce a ton of their damage on heavily armored security forces, shotguns have the punch power to kill.

So that's where shoddies fit in. Thanks. Looks like I need to study armor penetration.

I personally use the MT Mongoose machine pistol (I hope I haven't butchered the name) from the Yakuza ladder as a primary and the Lit-Fist Proto as a secondary on my Gunslinger. I've worked up all the ladders in game so far and have decked my sniper runner with the Panther Cannon from Cava Saint as well as some other rifle I bought from Mars since I needed to cut back on heavy ammo use on my sniper.

That Mongoose sure is a sweet weapon, but are you sure you want to use that on a gunslinger? Gunslingers get extra attacks when they use 2 identical pistols, and there is only one of those. I like to put my gunslingers in dual-wielding the Ares mk 4 blasta gun from Fairlight Importers in West End, and in Raptor 3s, sold lots of places, but the Mars store in the Fenns is one of them. mrblue: I think the Carbo Mag counts as the worst weapon in the game. If your sniper or sniper runner isn't very accurate, try the Strumwhelger (you can get one At Fairmont Self-Defense in the I-93 Barrens) for a 3AP rifle or the mk251 bounty (from Back bay Importers in Old Kenmore) for a 4 AP rifle. Both of these use the cheap 'auto' ammo.

I'm sure. Well, once I've finished the current playthrough I'll be trying again on brutal. But in all the time I've used the Mongoose I've never felt the need to duel wield weapons. I also find that the Mongoose cleans up quick and the Lit Fist helps with capture missions. Personally I've not tried the Blasta's and I think I tried Raptor 3's on my MnB character and they've proven to be clunky. Probably because of his low skills and attributes

The lit-fist and the mongoose is my favourite combo to use, so if your philisophy is 'put any Cyberknight (but female 2) who cannot use melee weapons' in this combo, I wouldn't argue But then why play a gunslinger instead of something else? for better starting AP? All pistols are low-accuracy, so yes if you haven't dumped a lot of points into firearms, you won't hit things. Which is why I like the higher accuracy mk251 bounty rifle for my knights with poor firearms. (until I get the Mongoose, of course).

Sorry, I still don't understand. In the weapon stats, for accuracy is a lower number better or a higher number? Is '1' the highest accuracy or is the weapon more accurate the higher the number? Thanks.

The starting pistol for the EX has 5 accuracy which is quite high.

Aha, you are correct but the point still stands, I should have written 'All pistols that can do enough damage to actually kill something with one shot'.
