So I just finished bomb mission with Major Luthor and I have enough Req points to unlock Neptune or Hydra, not sure which to get first. Thoughts?
For extra info:
I have 1 rank in both engineer and scout trees, the first 3 and the relic gun for the soldier tree and the first 2 in the captain tree.

You'll be given a hydra later in the game. You could try neptune first.

OK that makes sense. Another question: the Paladin is a new class, its melee focused right?

Correct, they make great secondary melee tanks that can heal a great deal with just a few points in they basic talents. Make sure you max out medic first, then build warrior.

You're just lucky I haven't devoted as much time to BF as I did to TA ... right now I don't have a tripod to stand on. Nonetheless, Neptunes are always awesome

Nothing lights up the dark world in which we live like Promethium. Hydra will always be my favorite.

Hydras are greatly improved over the first game, so I actually call it almost a toss up....except....well might as well call a spade a fornicating shovel...you get a Hydra shoved down your throat as a "storyline character" for several episodes. I've ignored it (= half gear usage), given it token support of a few levels in Hydra (to get rid of the silly "Gear" flag), and embraced it (if you need firepower to the front, have good heatsink skill on Eng). It all works, but if you really want to keep a heavy weapon viable later in higher difficulties (as in over minimum levels), embrace it.

LOL, good to know how you feel Sorry you've found the design so unpleasant. We will try to improve in the future. Thanks!

Heh, right on top. Not unpleasant, in fact I love what you've done with the Hydra...I just prefer autocannons over heavy flamers. Also melta type grenades for Zerks. It gives more player control to be able to pick which specialist rather than having to take care of the Major's sister Lineage descendant.... Although, it may not fit the lore, but a Soldier heavy weapon tree with "lighter" heavy weapons and only a couple of the specialist skills would be fun. I'm thinking flamer vs heavy flamer and heavy bolter vs autocannon in other terms. In the second case you keep the movement penalties

So.....is there an upper limit on heat? My current game has my scout just pushing 240 heat, he's always running hot but damn!

Yes there's a limit and once you reach it you shut down for a few turns. I think it's 150% of your total heat. So a knight that has 100 shuts down at 250.

BoT: It's gotta be the Neptune for me - just something about xeno rounding the corner and finding CHUGGA-CHUGGA-CHUGGA-CHUGGA-CHUGGA

The reference I made was similar weapons also, but with more variations. Think assault rifle, medium mg and heavy mg. Flamers would just be big and little.
