I'm not sure how stealth might be useful for boarding, but keeping strength at several times what your level is would indeed give you a tremendous edge in boarding. Okay, stealth is solved. Stealth soaks ship damage while boarding/being boarded and helps soak captain damage. But otherwise it's quite useless in board actions. Sorry man, Stealth has zero (0, none, nil) effect on Boarding damage soak. Absolutely unrelated.

My huge stealth ships survive being boarded rather undamaged (received very low damage even from narvidians 2.5x my level). From what I have seen, it may not be the case of just huge pilot.

Interesting. Well, I've checked the code and I cannot say I agree, but having Faith in your builds is important. If it works for you, don't stop!

In the boarding section of combat details in the help file, it says "Stealth is important when it comes to wound or damage avoidance". Also the description of Stealth in the level up screen says "The Stealth skill is used by the Captain when he is on board an enemy ship, or in a duel." Is the text outdated?

Helps you avoid getting hit, but doesn't reduce damage if you do get hit.

Helps you avoid getting hit, but doesn't reduce damage if you do get hit. That is correct. Strength, Officers and Upgrades are the only things that can reduce raw damage. Stealth functions as a Dodge here.
