Due to recent events, recent discoveries, and overall, I just like them better, I'm abandoning Steel Song. Yes, no longer, am I the dreaded Steel Song you all hate...

I'm independent now, and I'm still killing De Valtos.

Reasons: slayernz, Steel Song pissed me off earlier, and I prefer independent anyway.

SO GET OFF MY BACK! I'M NOT STEEL SONG ANYMORE!

Why did I make a thread about this?

Reasons: I've got nothing better to do, I'm telling you all I'm not Steel Song anymore, and because it's easier than explaining to each individual that I'm not Steel Song anymore.

Misunderstanding. It was you saying stuff about the Ratkin being the Song, the Song making a deal with De Valtos... it's just easier to blame you.

It is a little known fact that in the short period after the Exodus, there were only two types of alcoholic beverages to survive.

The most common type of alcohol was Vudka, which has its origins traced all the way back to Rossia, on the human home world of Earth (historians have little knowledge about Rossia other than the fact there were dancing bears and their military had Cusacks running around - presumably on top of the bears).

The other type of alcohol to survive the exodus was a wine called Rouge.

It was Rychart who tried to push Rouge as the alcoholic beverage of choice. At the time, Rychart was undercapitalized, and was also attempting to dominate the quadrant through aggressive tactics. Unfortunately, Red wine caused more hangovers than Vudka did, and Rychart captains often had raging headaches when enemy factions encountered them.

As such, Rouge is rumored to be one of the key reasons why Rychart became the inferior syndicate, and resorted to producing fashionable hats instead of alcohol.

Nonetheless, there are still a number of Rouge traders out there, trying to reinvigorate the market for an alternative to Vudka.

Obviously, I love Steel Song so much that I wouldn't ever label them as faction I despise most. They are such a kind and caring faction, always helping out in time of need. Their planets are in fantastic locations - yes, if you are ever desperately low on resources in the under-used south-western quadrant of the galaxy, who are you going to call on if not Steel Song. Sure, it's the ass end of the galaxy and nobody but stupid Song actually frequent the dungheap that is the south-western quadrant, but still, there they are. Self-important gimps, believing they still have power, when half the time they are running on candle-light. It's a mixture of inbreeding. that, and the fact that in generations gone-by, they had a great knowledge purge and burned all of the information they had because knowledge = corruption. That, in turn led to a number of worlds being deemed uninhabitable because of toxic smoke. Who would have thought that because all knowledge was stored within computers, burning knowledge would result in plumes of smoke rising into the leaden sky?

Still, Steel Song managed to thrive doing one thing and one thing well. They became the leeches of the quadrant, with one of the most aggressive pirating strategies on record. It was that constant triggering of encounters where Steel Song sent waves of pirate hawks after pirate hawks that pushed me over the edge. Not once. Not twice. Not thrice. Not quadrice Not tetraice Not quatroice More than thrice times did I lose a captain to a Steel Song pirate hawk. I vowed that they would pay. The blood of innocent captains who wanted nothing more than to carve a little success off the monolith of prosperity within faction space. That event occurred back in 2011, and one would argue that I have probably destroyed more Steel Song ships and killed more crews from that faction than all of the other factions combined. One would further argue that I might well have swayed the fulcrum of karma past the point of balance and into the area where my captains have karmic debt, but no, like with the great purge of 26AE, there is still strong justification on committing to a path of singular action whereby it is you against the Steel Song armada (mainly escape shuttles at this stage), and there can only be one victor. One survivor. That survivor starts with "S", but ends with "nz"
