I will point out that there are some ways to gain as much as an 800% bonus to the number of Records created for each successful Spy operation but they may not be immediately obvious =) PS: not spy war Let's see here... - electronics on board - high tactics skill - high wisdom stat? - currently on a surveillance contract? - relevant upgrades? - relevant faction? Also spy officer helps survelence Being a spy as a profesion gives you survelience/records bonuses |

Is there a point of having a spy officer with you if your a spy as a proffession? What about having a bounty hunter officer if your a bounty hunter as a profesion?

Spy officer will give you a chance of generating extra records, but you'll need plenty of empty hold space for that to be of use. Also gives free "buy rumour", not that it costs much anyway. Spy officer is one of the most useless in my opinion.
Bounty hunter officer and profession have almost nothing in common. The profession gives the surveillance ability for contracts and discount for death warrant. The officer gives a bonus to bounty hunter contract rewards and is good for sustained boarding (mash the duel button) and leads an extra boarding party.

This is how I do it:
1-look at the rumors and find shortages.
2-buy a lot of the items and still them.
3-make Monet.
4-explore when there is nothing to do and gain rep by doing that
5-avoid trade embargoes.
It's easy!

All depends on how many Factions you're intending on staying friendly with. Thulun never embargoes Thulun so I don't care too much what my enemies do  |
