Yeah, I agree, I will definitely miss v5. I am in all honesty amazed that the captains managed the level conversion etc. with no harm, the game accepted it like it was nothing... Amazing, really! Also it's quite amazing that everytime I disagree with someone, I get smited... Well I didn't smite you. I only smite people who are rude and mean. Everyone has different opinions and viewpoints, it would be ludicrous to smite someone over a disagreement. That being said, someone smited me too! I exalted you, partly because you didn't deserve a smite, and partly to piss off whoever it was that smited us. |

That being said, someone just smited me too  It was me, I wanted to give an exalt for acknowledging, but the browser on my tablet sometimes clicks badly. I'm going to start a new captain on crazy after a long break following the death of my 6 million credit captain. Honestly, your Xeno pet should be stuffed after the tears shed on that one. But if it insists, it can collect my tears of pain as I re-enter ST on Crazy after several months absence. Just... don't let it eat me.  |

Pilot is important only in boarding resistance. But truth is, it's now way easier to resist boarding than it used to be, because the warrior is decreased by the amount of strength... Between this and the new Gunnery Officer, I'm worried that gunning is OP as a strategy now. Maybe Warrior and Strength should contribute to level only half as much as a normal skill (or 1/4th of Stealth). I expect this wouldn't affect boarding combat damage, since changes are symmetrical, but I imagine it would make it harder to resist boarding. |

In 5.9.43, the version I have now, making a gun specialist captain is already a great strategy. In the v6 updates, it gets 2 major improvements: the Gunnery Officer and enemies now have to sacrifice other skills for Strength. But maybe these advantages aren't going to be as strong as I think they are, IDK. |

But maybe these advantages aren't going to be as strong as I think they are, IDK. The Gunnery officer was added in an attempt to provide some relief to Captains who reported disappointment in the higher than average number of officer and ship upgrades for boarding and torpedo use. The Gunnery officer does help offset that disadvantage, but frankly from a math standpoint, it is only about 25% of what you can achieve for Torps or Boarding. The v6 AI building system hasn't changed in terms of it making decisions in the AI to spend points on Strength vs. Pilot or anything like that. No change here at all. |

By "enemies now have to sacrifice other skills for Strength" I was talking about the fact that Strength counts towards level now, so they'll a smaller quantity of points to invest in Pilot and Warrior, making them less able to dodge guns and less able to board gunners.
