I've encountered Ice Demons a few times very rarely but I haven't had any chance to take their ship. Is it possible to take over those rare ships

No, capturing towns is not on the roadmap for Age of Pirates. It is not something that was ever intended to truly take over a city.

My favorite ship in the game for anything combat related is the Heavy Schooner. Faster than any of the big ships and packs just as much firepower with the right upgrades.

En1gma thanks are there any special type of ships in the game that players can use? Something that you can get through a rumor or by building in which no NPC are able to use?

Not to my knowledge, no.
Every ship not Kraken or Ice Demon is able to be captained by you or any NPC, to my knowledge.

No, Age of Pirates does not have Flagships, which are player-only ships in ST RPG. That feature didn't make it into AoP tho.

Meaning, I or any other interested players won't be able to take advantage of those exclusive rewards and additional content anymore? I just recently started browsing through your forum so I haven't had chance to get news about ST2, which I know has been in the works for quite some time now
