I want something to do besides bribing, surrendering, attacking and retreating.
'Send a friendly greeting' or some such.

I hope for something like this too. I've come across ships that weren't hostile but the only "Friendly" option is retreat and then you lose rep with that faction.

Yeah -- there are a lot of great talents. We will keep working on this.
The fact that the options are dynamic, fully driven by world and AI state is a huge start.
Already way better than ST RPG, but I dunno, we'll see if it works I guess.
Hope!

Oh, things are going to be FANTASTIC. I already pulled an all-nighter. and well I was up again at 04:00 (4 hours ago) couldn't sleep, all my dreams were full of crew builds, anyway.
It's just that as I am tooling around the galaxy, I want a different option than 'abject coward' and 'aggressive bastard' in my encounters. 'Friendly and Reasonable' seems about right to me.

The plan calls for Talents and then per-AI type interactions.
Sell Data with Spies. Trade legal goods with Merchants.
Buy shady gear from Explorers. That type of stuff.

That's great - would still like a generic "acknowledge" for non-hostile encounters ... "hiss over the comms link" would also be nice.

There's always surrender? I believe that was what the acknowledge button did behind the scenes in STRPG anyway

Surrender costs you rep, though. I want 'open the Hailing Frequences, Lt. Uhura!'

Surrender often gains Reputation. In cases where Surrender will gain Repuation, ST RPG swaps the label from "Surrender" to "Acknowledge"

I think one of the ST RPG lessons is that people do not surrender enough. And the reason they do not, is that it seems cowardly, plus if they are doing nothing wrong, they don't think that 'surrendering' is something they ought to be doing. If we had something that behaved just like surrender did, but was called something else, something more positive, I think people would use it more.

The swap is bad because it has bugs, not because it works. And it really does work. Best to actually learn the lessons of ST RPG, rather than just talk about how we need to learn them, eh? I will get this fixed.

I now see more Acknowledge screens. Is this your fix? If so, thank you. But the button still says 'Surrender', change that one as well?
