Simple + Customizable ... hmmm. Almost want that toggle for "idiot mode" for the newbie - it might not be an ultra-tuned build that you get, but you get a captain that has the basics and a profession. STRPG (aka ST1) you had pre-canned captains with set attributes. Difficulty level dictated your money/etc. If you picked a smuggler, you always got specific attributes. Only after the player designer did you get the flexibility to create custom builds and perfectly tweaked captains. I'm hoping that there will be pre-canned captains ready for the casual player, and in fact, customisation should only be available in the Elite purchase anyway. Mr/Ms Casual Player can try out some of the pre-designed captains and see what they do, then go and get creative

Or even better, set up the default ABCDE position in a way that gets most players started on lower difficulties. Then they can experiment with switching them around later.

Yeah, pre-canned games is what I was trying to propose above.
It would mean what we're working with right now is basically "Custom Captain"

Great - that allays that concern. Roll on pre-canning. This - by the way, is an example of a pre-cat can.
