In the beginning... A cat, badger, sheep, raven, couple of rabbits, bald man, a cloaked figure and assorted other types were relaxing in a spicehall in some far off galaxy when a rather dishevelled man staggered in wearing a crazed grin and looking like he'd already been at the good stuff stored in the back under lock and key. Coming to an unsteady halt in the middle of the hall he raised both hands as if in victory and proclaimed in a load voice, "the universe loves me, why in this galaxy alone there are 5 quadrants named fallen Rage". At this point he collapsed in a heap on the floor apparently passed out cold and the ill assorted crowd went back to their conversations and refreshments of choice.

More Travor Spice Wax for everyone ... her's my story ... she was the Charisma 20 Spy I hired on Pax IV.
She's charming and a bit mysterious, but we work togethe well. Her ability to sneak in and out of a Faction Zone's most secure areas make her an invaluable crew. I cannot seem to figure out her Traits ... but I start to suspect. We've been together 32 years now, and her current salary is $84, and my next highest paid officer is $41.
We made our way back to Pax IV, a vast desert Thulun holding in the galatic west ... we visited her family holdings ... Thulunian water-merchants with a six generation old charter. The servants that drove the carriage were better dressed than a lot of the Faction princes I work for.
I used to think she was expensive, but now I realize she's only greedy because it helps her forget what she's had to give up for a long life among the stars.

Dice pools getting out of hand! So took an exploration mission, one of my officers is an explorer and have a pair of Exo-Scouts. Job was in same quadrant as the contact so I'm thinking quick and easy. On third visit to wilderness after pulling back for repairs and to get crew healed up I again draw a -5 red card Ship danger! Uh oh, but yay I made the save! All it took was my 47 strong dice +12 standard to beat the worlds 10 strong dice +64 standard Makes me wonder how big and crazy the dice pools are going to get as I level up and game time passes.

-5 is the worst strength card in the deck. So, that's an extremely heroic save, great work!
Maybe -6 for xeno?

I decided to hire somebody special from my Merchant contact. I was looking for a silver-tongued charismatic deal negotiator. Got somebody with a sword scar right across her face, missing a nose or something. Charisma of 16. On the other hand her combat skills were all 24 or better. "Lady" I said, "I could use an Officer to manage my away-team".

A Bounty Hunter by the name of Zephos Aurelius had made a comfortable living for himself and his crew. A powerful Guardian Interceptor, with many thousands of credits sunk into her served as their home. A few times the credits had run thin and the jobs too harsh to afford fuel, so they had either turned pirate or merchant until they could find better jobs. Shortly after purchasing the Senior Hunter Edict from the Cadar Bounty Hunter, Livana Andato, who served as their main Contact, they took a relatively simple job. Escort a prisoner from a couple Quadrants away, and get 12k Credits. It was a milk run. Unfortunately, as they returned to the Independent Balgairon system, they found that the settlement of Erjanti Center, where Livana awaited, was under quarantine by Faction and Templar Forces.

Being quarantined out of a mission critical planet has happened to me more times than I can count. Got a giggle out of me when I was transporting a diplomat around and, after spending months and months flying across the known universe, we finally get him home only to have it be quarantined. I think that guy ended up basically living in my ship.

I think that guy ended up basically living in my ship. His diplomatic career was ruined, but he did write an influential intergalactic best seller, " One Hundred and Forty-Two Years Before the Star-Mast". see: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two_Years_Before_the_Mast

Star Date 1.0.23
Leaning back on the kiln dried leather chair of an Anatoray Wurlbeast I scanned around admiring the glistening new panels of my Paladin Cruiser. A new dawn, a new crew, a new era.
"Okay nav con, pull up the contacts list, show us what's out there"
"We're in luck sir, 3 contacts residing on an orbital, Huffington Hamlet, near the planet Thew Yin, less than 18 parsecs"
"Trading?"
"Looks good sir, Penelope dabbles in spice, Geoffrey looking for exploration data and a Prince to fall back on"
Perfect, a simple start, less than a week of void streaming, dock, a fond hello, shake the hand, accept the mission, make money, repeat. "Punch in co-ords, request depart pattern, cruise out to 55000, confirm nav plot and engage void stream"
"Aye sir, initiating pre-flight checks and plotting"
As the docking clamps released, I gave a mindful farewell to Sorrow's Harvest, which had been my home for many years whilst enjoying successful trading in such a dense population.
"Engines online n ready to void sir, awaiting orders"
"Go stream"
"Aye sir, stream will execute in 75 seconds"
As I strap lock my harness, I inhale my Naledi leaf necklace, a reminder of my leaving home-world Leilani.
"Sir, Eldroth in the aft silo wants to know if he can start weapons drill during streaming?"
Again? I glance a look at Rowan on nav con.
"43 seconds to stream"
Young blood, keen as ever with no clue of reality.
"They keen for Xeno blood, orders sir?"
"Fine, but just the Archangel on drill. I want inventory checks on torps and cannon rounds before any other firing"
"Aye sir, relaying orders, 16 seconds to stream sir"'
As I relax back again, I fit on my AV headset and blink scry to my favorite music list, nothing like a bit of 'Delung h'Beaul live.
"Sir, Sir, Xeno on our immediate bow 500 clicks"
"Is this part of the drill nav con? I am not in the mood for games!"
"No sir Xeno ship identified transmitting as a Xeno ship sir!"
Blocking our void stream we had barely left orbit on my first day.
"Eldroth requesting fire patterns sir? He says he can vape this target"
I just wanted to trade and already this?
"Okay, turnabout and emergency jump, we will not be wasting ammo on this rock"
"Can't clear sir, Xeno at 300 clicks and we taking hits"
"Okay, torps too close to call, fire Archangel and cannons before this thing bounces off the sensor array
"Xeno destroyed sir, some casualties reported on deck, return to Sorrow's Harvest for medical?"
"Yes nav con, it seems our trio of contacts will have to wait"
The next day i received a bill for just short of 6,000 credits for some repairs, medical and a trip to the spice Hall to recover a rather demoralised crew from slaughtering a Xeno pebble.
"Sir"
"Yes Rowan?"
"While we here sir we need a gunner. Eldroth has run off with Nghia from ops"
I drop my AV headset and walk out of the Spice Halls to the beats of 'Delung h'Beaul.
"Sir?"

Wow she's got a lot of charisma! And just so you know, that bottom bar is XP, not HP. I thought that too.

Wow she's got a lot of charisma! And just so you know, that bottom bar is XP, not HP. I thought that too. I was joking about the trait because even with it she only has 10 Fortitude which means she would be incredibly fragile. For the record I didn't keep her but very gently (so as to not risk killing her) escorted her back out the hatch and into the employment center.

Scrappy is a perfect trait for those Attributes. That's awesome. She's slight of build, but she's got more toughness than meets the eye.

The ship had safely completed the jump back into the home system. The officers on the bridge readied themselves for what was to come next.
"Home again in,,, what's this system called?" said ntsheep.
Someone had to answer. In the end it was the only way to shut him up. Just let him get it out of his head.
"Purple Rim Sir." answered Cassie.
"Ah yes! Purple Rim, and we're going to see the,,," ntsheep asked.
"Prince Sir." Cassie replied.
"The Prince, Purple Rim. Sounds like an old rock song." ntsheep said, "Purple Rim, Purple Rim." he began singing.
Cassie lowered her head and mumbled, "Why did I buy those damn KitKats."
