Well, looks like I got a long way to go. Still struggling on finding out what to do after the initial 0 jump contracts.
Usually just go bankrupt. And that's on Basic.

I have a nice nest egg after the missions as I tend to focus on passive abilities, but I haven't won a single ship fight on Basic. I feel your pain, just in the opposite direction. |

I haven't found any ways to make money by trading or exploring yet. I watched the video and understand how to do it, but I can never find good trade routes in my starting system or close by within 1-2 jumps. Always just lose money and have to restart.

In one of my games I found a 4 planet loop that I could run that made a ton of credits.
Mining->Refinery->Industrial->Farming
Not the only route you can set up, and probably not even the most efficient, but it netted me all I wanted. When setting up a trade route try to get at least three planets going.

The easiest to find are simple, one way routes. Find an Industrial world near a Population center. Sell basics medicines until the Industrial world is out of supply.
Go looking for Farming, Industrial, Refinery worlds. Repeat.

I get waylaid by pirates who wreck my ship and take my stuff, every time I try to trade. Combat is rough in this game, so well played, Mr level 21 on impossible, I can't make it past 10 on Basic yet.

We will get there with the balance. It is a work in progress, and things are definitely pretty rough right now.
Everyone who is playing, even in this rough state, is voting with their analytics. I see very few people are having a great deal of success, which helps us balance and plan for the next phase.
It's going to take a lot of work to get from here to release, but we'll be here grinding away at it.

Doesn't always give that option. For example, I'm in DV space and even though I'm at 0 rep and no one cares about me, I'm getting attacked by military officers. Good grief, I'm just a civilian with a cargo full of metals! Calm down!! Lol |
