So I have one particular Navigator officer names Lucy Leiwin. She's only level 4, but she has 40 (!!!) Resilience. Only question is what job do I give her? She has 22 Strength, 19 Quickness, 19 Fortitude, 20 Charisma, 21 Wisdom and 40 (still can't wrap my mind around this) Resilience. She has some solid state, but I have no idea what to do with her.

Officer Genious - that is hard core. She would be an amazing commander. 30 is the theoretical max ... does she have traits you don't know?

She's calm with Scrappy (+2 Fortitude), and one trait I don't know. I guess I'll make her a commander? I don't know what attributes work best with which jobs yet, so I'm coming here for some insight.

Officer Genious - they are not well enough connected at this point to be able to give great advice on that point. This can be said -- Attributes of crew are mostly unimportant, unless they end up in combat. When they are working as a unit on the ship, it is Skill that matters. Your Morale pool is directly set by your Resilience (it can be over 100, and I bet in this case it is). As Officers, Attributes can get called into tests at different types (exploration, missions, etc).

Hmm. Are there any rolls where Resilience is important?

Hmm. Are there any rolls where Resilience is important? Death Chance comes to mind -- that would be, not dying if you are defeated in combat.

Yeah ... see her 182 Morale potential? WOW. She will drag the average up on your ship pretty hard.

Honestly, I'm okay with that. I got all the important crew as officers, so I'm good.

Look out Officer Genious. Should this woman ever want your job, I'm betting she could take you on for it.

The starting Navigation officer always gets 40+ for Resilience and the starting Pilot officer always has 30+ quickness.
This has been consistent throughout all my game starts since Alpha started.
