When you enter the Spice Hall, I know you all want to get Paid and get a dose of Spice and Entertainment. Especially since that's the order top to bottom. But you really should go to the Doctor first.
Last night I noticed that Spice/Entertain improves moral a lot more on crew that are fully healed. To put it the other way, crew that are wounded get a much smaller morale bump from Spice than those that are fully healed.
I wonder if crew are less likely to leave if you heal them before paying them, but I haven't tested that yet.

My limited watching of this says the reverse -- If you have an unhappy crewmember and you don't want him or her to leave, _pay them first_, and for sure before you visit the stardocks to get the boat fixed, and refueled. I shall try curing them before drugging them for reasons of economy, though. Thanks for the tip.

Right now, there are a lot of lists (doctor, spice, pay). We are working on compressing this so that you can do it quicker. There is no intended secret benefit from doing it in any given order.

No secret benefit, no. But there are some nuances to how you pay them.
Lack of salary increases morale loss -- but it does not directly *cause* morale loss, but it does increase the chance of abandon.
So spicing your crew, to keep morale above the abandon check level is a good idea -- if you can control morale loss events (like you can Spice Crew + Refuel.) Crew are not guaranteed to leave you, but they are guaranteed to die if their HP gets to 0.

Hmmm, I spiced an injured crew a couple of times and morale only increased a couple of points. Then I had the doctor heal them. When I spiced them after being healed, morale increased by around 10 points.

I like the current spice hall interface. There are several things to manage, but it seems like the right amount of stuff. Plus, a lot of these things give the option to just auto-spice or auto-heal the entire crew with one click--that's super easy. I do NOT think the Spice Hall interface needs to be compressed. This is one person's opinion. For me, the fact I only have one ship and crew to manage, makes me want a fair amount of stuff to manage. In contrast, ST4X starts to get to be too much for me as my empire grows and I have many systems and ships to manage.

tenbsmith - the thinking is that you have to click 3 times - Pay, Heal, Spice - pretty often. We've discussed pushing Doctor into the Spice Hall, basically reducing 2 clicks form the maintenance cycle. We're talking about the same thing with Refuel and Repair. Why not combine them to make it faster? Right now, it can feel like I have a lot of "maintenance" to do, which ... meh. When I say "combine them" I mean that you'd bring them into one UI which allows for a single click to "spend all the money." That is, if you just want to Refuel to Full and Repair Everything, its one click to open the table and one click to finish it. That's 50% click reduction.

Actually that does sounds good. I rarely micromanage which crew get healed or spiced. I just heal all. Though, if funds were tight, I want the ability choose. Similar with Repairs.
It would be nice to make sure that the starting screen shows both of the major types of activities without scrolling. The Refuel/Repair screen would show both Refuel and Repair with sub-options partially or fully collapsed. That could be challenging given the range screen sizes you're supporting.

tenbsmith - yeah, I think when it comes to pass, it will be a really nice improvement for everyone who is used to clicking twice as much We would offer all the same options today (picking which components to repair, who to heal, exactly how much spice) including the "uncheck all then the recheck individuals". For most of the time, when you have the money, it would greatly simplify. Glad you like the idea once you hear it in full

Sort of a related question to the OP. The different zones all have a spice rating. Does this effect morale gain in the spice hall; the higher the zone spice rating the better the morale gain?

s/moral/morale/ .... yes, we are drugging ourselves to better our morals. With enough spice, we are incapable of lying, stealing or even thinking about adultery ... But I don't know the answer to that question, sorry.

A zone must have at least 2 Spice Hall rating to have a working spice hall. At this time, one Spice Hall is not better than another, but it is on our list to improve as we work through upgrading all the Spice Hall features.

Is it currently possible to "overspice" someone? As in, causing addiction or withdrawal?

Spice Hall ratings determine how quickly your crew will regain morale.
