johndramey - agreed, we're looking into zone-type icons, maybe even coloration. The current system is no where near where I want us to be when we're done. Fast map reading at a glance is pretty important.

You know, you would get more UI design out of me if, every time I went to look to capture a cool screenshot, I didn't get sucked right in and play for another 20 minutes or so before I noticed. This game is so cool. See? This exactly why I asked for the in-game clock. Glad I'm not the only one lost in the time-space sinkhole.

because of the importance of the spacing, count and so on we're going to hand make all 250 maps. The planets are built according to a long set of rules ... but we have ways to override for story or balance reasons. So an entire quadrant with all planets owned by the same faction is possible/intentional? I had to fly through this quadrant for many missions, and I was only level 3 but was a Legendary Crime Lord due to previous trade ban violations...
