If the best way to make contacts is to hire more crew, people will go on firing binges, to make room. So having that go away should make a big difference. Also, players are learning that firing brutes sooner means that your best crew don't walk. At least I learned this, once I decided to study 'why are so many of my crew leaving despite regular pay and lots of spice?' Can you expand on this? What do you mean by "firing brutes?" I have not noticed a pattern except that I have a crewman or two who are always complaining about how this hurts or that hurts and they spend way too much time in the spicehalls because they "just can't seem to get over the long trip/last hull depressurisation/meat grinder during the expedition" or what have you. I had attributed this to weak character. But, there may be mitigating circumstances?

The effect of this trait is that whenever that Character suffers morale loss, they cause a second character to loss an equal amount. Basically they are bullies that take out their unhappiness on others in crew and that extra moral damage to the other characters may be enough to cause them to walk on you.

Thank you xdesperado, I had not noticed that before. I can feel a crew purge coming on.

Thank you xdesperado, I had not noticed that before. I can feel a crew purge coming on. My highest level character in current game is a Crew Dog that has Brute as her 3rd trait. Only reason I've not fired her yet besides being tight on Ship Ops skill is that she has the Story Teller Trait and I gave her Relaxing Leave talent so she's giving bonus Moral to entire crew whenever anyone hits the Spice Hall. Even so if I find another Storyteller or two she's likely to get her severance pay.

I think I hit the Spice Hall when IntergalacticWorldcon was being hosted or something. I'd swap you one for a Swordsman with 2 military traits.

Imagine what the D&D/FFG Star Wars/etc games that go on during downtime must be like.

Dear God, I have 9 Storytellers. I think I hit the Spice Hall when IntergalacticWorldcon was being hosted or something. I'd swap you one for a Swordsman with 2 military traits. This is pretty amazing -- mathematically, it is an unlikely trait draw. Says a lot about how visible it is. I have made some changes to the events that are populated when storytellers talk (one event for all storytellers), as well as linking the % chance directly to Charisma now, so the bonus has been reduced. Improved the rules for Earthbound Friends, Friends in Places, and linked Snob into the Trait generator. Amazing how many of the coolest Traits simply aren't in use yet without the mutation ruleset. Added some bonuses that will make trait like Brute, Stubborn, Obsessive, Driven, Moody more interesting choices and less likely to cause an auto-fire.

I've never seen Earthbound Friends, Snob, Stubborn, Obsessive, Driven, Moody -- are they in the game? I think 'Friends in Places' which sounds to me more like the person is well-connected rather than gregarious might like to be called 'Gossip'

grävling - lots of them are not in the game yet or just show up very rarely. There are over 140 Traits, but many of them are reserved for mutation during game events (not yet implemented). I flipped Friends in Places over to Gossip, great suggestion.
