So I am back at my buddy the ex-Explorer's place, getting more missions. I also bought a level 2 house Thulun trade permit, as my buddy has clout as opposed to Prince Fainthearted who couldn't even manage a level 1 permit for me. I take a mission. I take another mission to the same quadrant. I read the third one, think, rats, same exact location as the second one, I would have loved to take that too but I know that I don't have the rep ... He let me take it. 3/2 ?? rep is indeed 37. And he did not let me take any more ...

Did those missions. Came back with things he wanted. Asked for more missions. I am now 5/3 with him.

Yeah, max missions doesn't appear to be working at all. Ticket #3481 ST2 - Bug - Max Missions Not Working That's a massive balancing issue, so we'll probably have to do a patch build. Not sure how that got past us in testing. Sorry

The trick to reproducing this one is to never go back to the "More Missions" screen which seems to cause the Contact to lose track of max missions.

fits with my behaviour, yes. But I never used to be able to take 3 missions from a guy who would only let me take 2, even though I didn't go back to any screen ....

Oh well, regardless of the behavior in previous versions or if this is a new bug / regression it is still an easily reproduced issue. We will fix #3481

It's okay. If you manage to find a few useful contacts (especially right now when there is no clear penalty for overdue results), and you can get a few missions from each and then do them in a spatially convenient manner.

Having it broken like that gave a pretty big advantage to low Contact priority.
We will work on making the penalties for being overdue more clear. It substantially limits the impact of the Mission.

I think you had better give us more time to do them, then. It's not the hyperjumps that's the problem, its the travelling around in the quadrant where the mission is, to get to the proper planet and settlement. (before it was the other way around).

Actually, my bounty hunter is finding that he has enough time to do his missions before they expire. But my explorer, my zealot, and my spy were having a pretty wretched time of it, as were people who tried to do the Prince's diplomacy mission. This was despite the fact that the exploring or whatever was going really well and I rarely had to take time off to get everybody patched up at the doctor's etc. I think all of the card games may take extra time that the missions aren't allowing for, or allowing enough for.

Most of this will be based on data we're collecting from user's mission completion and timing rate. Right now around 5% of missions are failed, 10% completed behind schedule. I think the failure rate is too low, but we're watching it carefully. There are well more than 10,000 mission completions in the current dataset, so not a lot of data yet but we are getting there.

I think that if you played according to the rule 'I will get a mission. I will do the mission. I will get another mission. repeat forever' you would rack up a lot of accomplished missions, provided you didn't have to blockade, explore or spy as part of it. Then you might still not get enough time. It's when you try to do this according to 'I will select that tasty mission. Cool, that is in Draco Pavonis, which means I can sell a lot of crop harvesters while I am there, so remember to stock up before you leave, and I'll just drop by the Politician's house halfway across this quadrant to see if he has any pressing business in Draco Pavonis as well before I head on over there' that you find you just don't have enough time for all the business you want to schedule. And scheduling business like that is, for people like me, about as much fun as it gets.
Can you get data about how busy other people's schedules are?

Can you get data about how busy other people's schedules are? Yeah. Almost no one is running around with a single mission active at any time. We'll keep working on it, but it is pretty darn close based on the alpha data.
