xdesperado, are you playing on a high difficulty? I think I'm on either Demanding or Hard. You actually save a lot of credits if you don't buy W-F unless Hyperwarping. That got me through several rough patches, from ~10k in debt (from pending repairs and slightly behind-schedule wages) to fully caught up with ~20k liquidity now.

Nope. I keep them spiced. Spice is like maybe 300-400 cred to make a significant boost in morale. W-F is like 2000 cred a tank. I think I've only had 1 mutiny on this captain. Might be difficulty related, or otherwise this needs to be tweaked.

I'm playing on Hard and the cost of fuel isn't a financial hardship especially if you watch where you buy it when possible. Additionally with the right talents, ship upgrades and good skill hyperjumps will cost little to no fuel so majority of it is spent moving within a quadrant or in fights. If your crew is already unhappy with things because your running without fuel then other Morale damaging events will be more likely to push them over the edge into desertion/mutiny. I prefer doing what I can to always keep them as close to max Morale as possible and that includes not only weeding out those who cause excess Morale loss to rest of crew but also insuring ship is fueled and in good repair.
