I have some questions... Say I'm with De Valtos and I have a 182 rank with them and I kill some De Valtos pirates, does my rank drop? Because I run into a lot of pirates from my own faction that try to kill me and I don't want my rank to drop. :/ Also, what are some tips on how to help with getting my Syndicate Rychart from -58 to neutral? I keep finding their trade wars and fighting their opponents but it doesn't help

If you take on a De Valtos pirate and defeat him/her in battle, then your reputation with De Valtos remains static. BUT if you enslave the crew and/or destroy the ship, then you do lose RP.
Note though that even if you are good and don't enslave/destroy, if De Valtos and Thulun are allied, then you don't lose RP with De Valtos but you do lose RP with Thulun.
Conversely if De Valtos and Thulun are at war, destroying a De Valtos pirate might actually boost your RP with Thulun.
For getting out of negative RP, there have been a number of threads on this already, but there are a relatively easy set of options you can do, especially when you are only -58 (they only kinda dislike you).
1) If Rychart and Cadar are trade allied, go sell restricted items (Artifacts, Electronics, Weapons) with Cadar. You get significant bonus for selling stuff when Cadar is in shortage (eg Cadar prime has shortage of Electronics).
2) If Rychart and Steel Song have a solar war, go to a Steel Song planet and blockade it for a while. Your -RP with Steel Song is offset by the +RP with Rychart.
3) If Rychart and Steel Song have a spy war, go to a Steel Song and run surveillance on it for a while. Same result as #2.
4) No matter how bad your reputation is, you can always get into the spice hall. Go there, sign up for contracts. Make them happy by working for them. This is the least effective of the methods above.
Once your RP is down to -10 or so, you can easily go into the Rychart palace and buy a pardon.
-58 RP will easily be able to be taken care of within a year (52 turns).
2)

5) Maybe a crafting feature? I don't know what there would be to craft? Maybe you can craft new ship parts out of a lot of weapons and crystals or something? Posted by blackgauntlet Dec 1, 2011 at 8:28pm . 5) If we were shipbuilders, we'd be landlocked and have no reason to go spacefaring. As someone who has spent many, many hours roleplaying space roaming merchants, smugglers, privateers, fighter pilots, or naval officers who spent a large amount of time between battles or other adventures working on creating new starfighter or starship designs I disagree with blackgauntlet on this completely.

Hey Ahhhonfire, welcome to the forum. Bite-sized threads get more responses than huge epics. In saying that, a lot of my answers typically are epic in size (which could annoy more than a few forum members). Nonetheless, here are my thoughts below: 1) already an enhancement request 2) not possible ... player bases coming and ST RPG 2 will possibly support this - bearing in mind ST RPG 2 isn't in active development right now 3) Again, not possible in current game. ST RPG 2 will provide support for playing as an independent. 4) Ditto to #3 5) Not possible ... nor is custom ship creation. 6) Good feedback. People who want to learn the basics should literally play in "Basic" difficulty. It's a great learning environment because the opponents are weak, you have great fuel efficiency, and most importantly, you can't die! 7) You can play the game at school - just don't get caught. Heck, I play the game at work which is probably worse than playing at school. 8) This is an ongoing thing - it's looking much betters in state than is the others producs.t (TA and CK) 9) You might be stealthy, but ship sensors, dock security, and the coupling sensors would say otherwise. I'm of the opinion it is pronounced "Kadar". Cory might say otherwise though. Open mouth, insert foot?

Hey everyone. This is the OP. I don't have access to the email associated with ahhhonfire anymore so I made a new account. It's really cool to see how many of these things were eventually implemented in the later games. I've had a kind of passive interest in these games through the years, as in I've bought all of them and played them, but haven't interacted with the forums (like I said I wanted to).
I just want to thank you all for giving me such a warm welcome 8 years ago, and thank you to the Trese brothers for introducing me to RPGs as a kid. You guys also sparked my passion for game development. I haven't really made much progress on anything, but I've always wanted to make games. It's not what I went to college for, but I've hopefully secured a job that gives me ample free time to pursue it. I hope it pans out.
Also, I'm now 22 and I cringed a little at how many emojis were in that original post, lol. Thanks again to all you kind folks, and happy trading!
Edit: and I definitely lied when I had my birthday set to 1990.

Wow, welcome back Thanks for sharing this, as we all need someone to introduce us to gaming when we're kids and we're glad we could help that journey in any way!
