I would edit your post to ask for ponies but I think people would really believe you were asking for a pony. Oh! You evil, evil man! As long as those ponies are mechanical and moves on hover-jets instead of hooves, I'm all for it. ;D WHAT IF, the Yakuza logo was in Russian? Then, instead of "—¬Ÿ‚", you get "„A„‚„p„„„r„p". ;D The logo'd be a bottle of New Zealand Vodka Harhar! I'd have exalted you if your points aren't already through the roof! ;D

The katakana writing of the word 'Yakuza' is in that wikipedia article only for completion, it doesn't make ANY sense for a japanese to use that. Katakana are reserved for spelling of foreign words and some scientific stuff. The wikipedia article actually covers the naming and writing the yakuza themselves would use, (the yakuza call themselves "ninkyō dantai" (任侠団体 or 仁侠団体), "chivalrous organizations") and obviously those would be Kanji. Which are hard to distinguish from chinese Kanji, as the whole japanese writing system is actually copied from the chinese, hiragana and katakana evolved from there to adapt to the japanese language (and it still doesn't really fit well, they just deal with it ).

did buddhism disappear or just move to cherch? Ah... that can be easily explained. No one believes in that religion anymore. These are the reasons. Buddhism advocates: 1) That the cycle of life does not end with death. You will be reincarnated back to this miserable place until you do it right and attain Nirvana. 2) That Karma is a bitch. For every shit that you do, you will have twice the shit to pay. And for every samaritanian stuff you do, you should reject the rewards, if any. Thus: 1) If people choose not to believe that they will come back to a shithole, there is a possibility that they might not. So, why risk it? Believing in Christ is a lot simpler as a ticket to Heaven. 2) In a Cyberpunk world, how would anyone survive if they don't do shit? And who the well would reject rewards to help them survive longer? Thus, there is no place for Buddhism in CK. Buddhism is for those seeking Enlightenment and Meditative Salvation. Not really applicable for CKs who just could not afford the luxury of time.

+1. Thou hast given a grand argument against. Hence, I exalt you in good fashion. Huzzah.
Now as for how we live now, in 22oo's I can agree, chummer, that Buddhism would not truly survive. if it did, it was only under certain domes, and the faith didn't spread fast... corporations may like the Peaceful image it portrays...but corporate war isn't behind closed doors anymore...not found just in boardrooms... not just AquaFina Coolerdroid talk and banter...
Those sheeple don't live the cut-throat world we live in...just a few layers separated. they don't really give their sweat, blood, and tears...unless they are donating cells for compatible cloned body parts. Pretty Sloggin' Stuzzy, eh?
Someone long ago told me that Nietzsche didn't really mean god was dead, the name and form maybe... The Baud is God.
