Yah, I really take writing these games serious. Thanks for reading. As do I. Thankfully this didn't turn into a pissing match. I am here to compliment / enhance. I am here to add my 2 cents. I am here to open eyes. I am here to make people think. I am here because I love it. I will be finishing The Nautilus as soon as i can. (My new job has kept me pretty busy)

I really wasn't trying to say more or less serious.
that's actually a cut & paste from my Shadowrun message board where I'm trying to convince some new players that they really do have to write backgrounds longer than "Have gun, kills for money."

It is a summary of a longer "style guide" I wrote to help me write SR3 games.
It can, for someone like me, be really useful to go back to a list of genre-friendly plot devices if you get stuck.
I suspect anyone who took the time to play in one of my pen and paper games would recognize most of the cast of CK and many of the buildings, locations and shops.

In fact the first 3 "CK story mode" characters I am planning to make are based on player characters in my last SR3 game. Good source material

As a G.M. i made a few house rules for all games...but especially SR 1) everyone had to take at least 1 flaw 2) that flaw must be role played 3) everyone had to write at least a decent paragraph for their character description.
Character has and will always be important. I never wanted John to play as John in the NBZ for example. I encouraged people to step away from their comfort zones, and to try new characters and archetypes. Thats why, as a writer, I have to flesh out characters. They have to seem like they are living breathing entities with motivations, fears, etc.
If the character was boring, you'd lose interest too early. We all have our own little quirks... PCs and NPCs should too.

Also I turned on all the effects for the "TBD" cyberware.
Another step towards the end of beta.

TBD == to be decided? this is how I have always assumed it meant.

Nyktos, I loved to play and run games...but i usually ended up running them as apparantly my Imagination is enough for a group of people. Besides, having written a few games from the ground up...GMing games seemed to be my cup o' tea i guess.... correction : running still. not as much as when I was younger...
