Star Traders RPG (Free Edition) is getting beat up on Amazon. A few negative reviews came in and dropped us down to 4 stars out of five (a new and not fun feeling for me!) I would really appreciate anyone who takes the time to drop a Review on Star Traders RPG. If you do visit this page: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004UBM7Z6and get Amazon to post your glowing 5 star review, I will offer you a bribe. A special Star Traders RPG trick nobody else knows about. Post your review and e-mail me at cory.trese@gmail.com once they approve it =)

Post your review and e-mail me at cory.trese@gmail.com once they approve it =) Cory, I read ALL of the negative reviews and they are mostly worthless. Things like "well I read this was like Master of Orion or EvE online". I don't know if the person lacked braincells to realize those statements are referring to the genre of the game or if the person deliberately decided to be an arse. It's a phone app for god's sake. The rest of the reviews seem to come from those that found bugs and couldn't play, didn't like the interface, had truly unrealistic expectations, children (complaining about bad graphics as if this was Crysis), and "well it's too hard so it sucks" type losers. Notice that the negative reviews are less than 10 percent. Notice also that, besides bug reports and interface issues, none of the negative reviews, none, have a helpful rating. I didn't see one anywhere. That means that those people wrote their negative reviews and no one else believes their criticism is helpful.
In short, besides the bug problems and interface gripes, don't read the rest.

I will add a 5 star, but I disagree that all the negative reviews are misleading. Two of them mention the interface which is still my main gripe.

What do you mean "the interface."
I occasionally get the "replace the interface" feedback which usually translates after discussion to "I would prefer 3D / etc."
Obviously I am open to improving the interface but the considerations are broad and deep and I must not make changes that do not consider the full scope of the game, the user base, the device range, the translation teams or the core game design.

By interface I mean the button configuration. I believe you called it proposal three? I would love a system that enabled me to access any screen from any other screen in a maximum of 2 taps. It may sound daunting, given screen space, but I reckon it is achievable and would make gameplay flow more naturally. Also, to a lesser degree, the language used for information could use a rewrite - some of it is as clear as custard.

only thing that is slightly, and i mean slightly, an issue with the UI, is that some often used pages are too many presses away - i use the factions page a lot, but it take many presses to get there but its only a very small thing - nothing is perfect after all ..oh, and the close dialogue when exiting the zoom star map is a bit of a pain - as i use it a lot

now you should turn it back on if turning it off makes the game crash.
your phone may or may not need the pausing created by the dialog to correctly dispose of the second drawing surface.
If you encounter FC when exiting the zoom map, turn the option back on to keep your phone's memory system in line.

Factions is just "status" then "factions". Thats two taps if im not mistaken. Navigating was a pain the ass starting out but that was only because I WASNT USED TO IT. Now that I am, it's not so hard to find the pertinent information in order to make informed decisions. Besides, not having to manually check things like morale or trade embargo Is a direct advantage to having first mate or political officer. I just wish my pilot would talk to me...

I am working on testing a major officer improvement package that adds a lot of dialogs and improves existing ones with long standing requests like "WHO is the trade embargo with?" and suchnot
