Indie planets work just like Faction ones. You get a better price if you sell the goods on indie worlds that want them. Otherwise you get F rate. So don't dump those Ore Extractors anywhere, you want an Indie Mining Planet.

Lots of Indie planets have very low trade law, which creates the illusion that 'you can always sell on an indie planet'. This is not true. Every so often you will find a very prosperous Indie place, and some of them have high trade laws, just like Faction worlds. Should you find an Indie Mining world with Trade law of 10 -- they can exist -- you will find that you cannot sell your Ore Extractors there, either. Indies don't care about whether or not you have a Trade Permit. But they do respect the illegal/legal nature of sales based on Trade Law Rating.
