I stupidly hit the back button in the middle of a conversation with Cava Saint. I now have no idea what he was going to say about me -- except that the bosses have heard of me --and of course it doesn't replay. I would like a way to store these messages on your PDA for replay, and maybe, not sure, to 'disable the back button gets you out of here' when you are in a serious conversation. me I just tapped too close to the back button ...
grumble.
By the way, chummers, if you haven't had the pleasure of working with Cava Saint, I can strongly recommend it. Serious Ladder Fixer, really takes care of his Knights-.

Cava is known to go above and beyond. Gravling - if you can help me identify the Rep you were at when you were talking to him, I can help you out and get you the missing pieces of the conversation.
however, your RFE is a good one for the rest of the crowd!
Just wait till you meet Hida Sensa and Yiddihira-San, the Yakuza connectors and veteran soldiers who are coming up.

I've learnt a liiitttle bit of Japanese and um... there's no Japanese family name in the form of Yiddihira. Ichihira (which most closely correspond to Yiddihira), maybe. (-_-

LOL. Nope, there isn't. Doesn't matter because that's 200 years ago before the decimation of the Pac Ring and the Year of Fire.
You'd be surprised what the near extinction of the human race does!

What do you think the Back button should do in dialogs?
I like the way it is -- I use it to skip stuff.
I spent a few hours making sure it worked perfectly -- you get the items and so forth no matter what -- if there is a choice coming up it skips to the choice. If you are changing zones, you exit immediately.
This was a hard won feature from a development standpoint and Andrew just opened a bug to remove it ... I am not sure I agree from a design standpoint.
I'd love to hear your ideas or feedback.

I think there are two sorts of conversations. One is 'same old, same old' -- you have read it 100 times or more and indeed you might want to backbutton out of this, if the conversation is long. But the second sort of conversation is a _unique_ conversation. There is no way to get it to repeat, and if you miss it you are out information that the game expects you to have.
There are two ways to deal with this problem, one is to record all conversations so that you can always repeat them through your PDA. And the other is to disable the back button for unique conversations. I like the second option better, though I can see reasons to like the first.
I can see that having to listen to long fixer conversations is a pain for you, as a developer, when you have seen the thing 100 times -- but this points at a need for you as a developer to have a 'back button gets you out of unique conversations option'. Nobody else will see the message more than once (per character) so they really won't be complaining that they cannot exit the conversations. Indeed, they will complain the other way, as I did -- I have missed something that Cava had to say to me, and I had to create a new character just to find out what it was. Very annoying.

Update -- you definitely want the backbutton to cancel sometimes. It would be very annoying to have to listen to Benni tell you that you are too hot for him, or your ladder connector tell you your 'you haven't made it to the next reward level' message conversation all the time. But that, of course, is where the problem is -- because you are used to dismissing your ladder connector with the back button, your fingers do that automatically even when that isn't what you want. So, I think special casing the unique conversations is in order. Hope that is not a hard thing to do.
