I got rid of my Barracks ... and my ship kept a max crew of 30, as shown both on the Status screen and on the Crew screen.  Likewise, I could keep my 5 officers after replacing an officer cabin by something else. |

I tried replacing Barracks by something else in the latest version of the game, but couldn't.
I can't remember now, but I wonder if the bug I encountered might have been caused by a conflict between an old save (.29) and a new version of the game (.31 or .35).

I just tested on a new game on a Shield K1 tablet.
Taking out the barracks reduced max crew to 0, however the 30 crew were still there. The Crew stat in ship status said [30/0].

Cool, can you give a step by step? We had three people working on this bug and none were able to reproduce. I've spent more than an hour on just this bug without finding anything wrong so I'm flagging it as "already fixed / non-repro" for now, until we get more details or someone else is able to repro and provide steps of some type. I tried to reproduce the bug with a new character, but I need a rank. When I try to purchase a rank, though, I'm told my contact doesn't have enough rep. The main screen says she needs 15; but the blurb says she needs 10.  |

The key is this first screenshot. If I see the bronze buttons at the bottom, it means I can replace the barracks. I don't understand. How are you replacing it using the bronze buttons? Don't you need to use the buttons in the upgrade menu? Still cannot reproduce, also getting confirmed non-reproduction from several other players. Still hoping for details, none of us can figure out what you're doing!@@ |

Click on "Clear" and you get the option to replace the Barracks by any other item in the list of items of the same compartment size. Simple. On the other hand, if you select the Void Engine, not the Barracks, the bronze buttons don't appear, so you can't replace the Void Engine by anything else than another engine.
