What do you mean "Jams up" ? I have not seen any bug reports about problems fighting with the Zendu, I have defeated it a few times myself this week while in airports. This is one of the issues I wrote you about yesterday also. Any tips on how you battled it? I think what he meant by jams up is if I attempt to advance, shoot a torp, or use my guns; it just leaves without any contact. Also if captured, are you able to switch into them as the other ships?

No, both Alien and Hive ships cannot be piloted by the Player, they are not balanced for regular space flight. You have to be a Ghost or a Xeno to be flying them.
I have, as you and this thread requested added a new Space Hive called "Damaged Space Hive" which is one that I already shot with a bunch of torpedoes.
For a fast ship, start by getting another fast ship. Open the combat with a torp, close. If you don't get to medium range after the Close, fire another Torp. Use the Torp->Close cycle to maximize your chance to close in vs. a Fast fleeing ship.
If you get to Medium, begin a Close->Gun->Close cycle, trying to get in behind them. If you can, watch out for Ghost borders and fire Engines@

Also if we can't pilot them, doesn't that mean I can only loot a max of 85 holds, my current ship limit?

LOL, I think I prefer to stay human. I'm also guessing I'm not seeing a lot of what's being talked about by playing in Basic. I've never seen Templars, etc. I tried checking out the Difficult and Challenging Levels but was turned off with the whole starting over from scratch aspect. Even if Cory wrote code to transfer a Captain from a lower Level to higher levels, I wouldn't take a chance of being permanently killed and loose over $200,000,000 and my high experience level. I began my current Captain as an Explorer while I intended to play as a Military Officer. So I have no idea what options I shut my self off from with that choice. Being a newbie, I assumed taking Military Commissions from Devaltos and Rychart I was a military officer as well. I'm not hardcore like you guys. I play as a release and like picking up where I left off. Of course I haven't been KIA since first starting, even then I retained my ship and cargo. It also sounds like you guys may have access to much larger, powerful ships than can be gained on Basic. I'm currently in a maxed out Harbinger Class ship that gives a total of 116 holds which are okay for medium duty contract fulfilment. However often I have to find a nearby port to off load by loot from defeated ships between contract runs. I don't see myself getting bored of Star Traders but... I'm just not willing to get killed off and loose everything. On the other hand, it seems that I've hit the limit of unlocks, and better ships in Basic. I stayed away from the forum as long as I could because this is the time I would be playing. LOL However I hope to pick up some valuable Intel from you veterans. Please forgive any typos. My HTC Thunder Bolt apparently has issues with the forum.

You're playing in Basic?
Ahh... then Aliens would not be of any concern to you.
They don't exist in that Happy Land. ;D

Templar Lifer looks like an Alien Ship. Is this correct? I always get scared when I encounter one ;D.

shallowthought - you may have some of the Speed/Agility columns switched for some of the ships. It seems to be the ships from the military base. Name Hull Armor Eng Sails Crew Cargo Guns Torp Speed Agility Cost Dragoon Class 20 12 21 34 80 60 15 10 Medium Medium $242,250 Royal Dragoon 19 13 38 46 64 72 26 13 Fast Quick $785,072 Dagger Dragon 12 6 24 24 28 30 13 4 Fast Quick $301,801 Carnifex Cruiser 40 21 42 42 225 100 40 16 Medium Medium $877,160

They don't exist in that Happy Land. ;D Yeah I started in Basic and built up a lot of rep, cash etc before learning all unlocks and ships aren't available there. I just can't force myself to give up soo much money and exp to start over in a higher difficulty level, particularly when you can die and loose everything. Call me a chicken hawk. LOL

Fenikso - Thanks for the new ships, added them to google docs and fixed speed/agility for the faction ships. Also added the starting ships. Do you have a google account? I will see if I can add you as an editor as you seem to be finding the new ships before I do.

I too have a few characters on Normal or Basic that I like going back too.
They're stable, and like you said, they have a big selection of ships to survive to very high levels, but not so much a collection of ships you aren't drawn, at least occasionally, to try out the high-risk, high-excitement difficulty levels.

Ship price is still done by an equation that has some issues, especially with the new edge case designs. Would I be right in saying that the most important factor in cost is the planet's stats? I have seen ships going for considerably more (2-3x I think) in high econ+security than in lower rated planets.

I cannot get to Google Docs from some of the computers I use on daily basis . But I will keep my file updated, so you can take the new ships from there. BTW: I even cannot filter and sort in you Google Doc, maybe you may play with the permissions a bit. I have also added links you your stuff into my Manual Addendum, hope you do not mind.
