I am trying to create a backup of the game just in case something happens to the phone since I read that you have to use a helium program. But it will not connect to the helium app that is installed on my pc (windows7), is there any way where i can get into the phones files and locate the saved game under the phones storage?

All the other options that I know of require rooting. At what step in the walk through are you unable to proceed?

It seems crazy to me that Android phones no longer have a universal, workable backup and migration API.
I am confused as to why Google killed it, I guess they want everyone to use the Pixel.
I will do some research and try to find another backup application or approach. Do you have a second device?

the step im stuck on is the helium app is not connecting to the pc helium app. It keeps trying to connect but nothing happens. I am just trying to do a backup now so I know what to do if i ever do switch phones, also just in case my phone dies for whatever reason, then not all progress is lost. So this is not an emergency backup or anything, just trying to be on the safe side just in case an emergency happens I will try to test it on bluestacks on my pc just to make sure that however i saved it, will work. It would be nice where you can have a part in the game where it can generate a saved game for you and save it in a file so you can quickly load it in a new device. Im sure its possible even if it is a bit of work, but I do think that would be a lot easier than using a 3rd party app to save the game. Just my 2 cents

Just my 2 cents Yep, we too wish we could easily make a saved game file that could be moved around. But there are just 2 of us and it is a lot of work. We published the Helium walkthrough to help players who haven't rooted there phone because we know our game is feature deficient when it comes to cloud transfer. It is the best we can do at this time. From your description, it sounds like something wasn't done correctly in the ramp up to connecting phone + helium. You might go back through the steps, especially the ones about enabling USB debugging and making sure your machine has a real connection to your Android.

anaconda Do you have the option on your phone to choose "charging only" or similar for the USB connection? I had the same issues you are describing and that worked for me. Having said that, even not it is activated, helium has been a little temperamental recently and sometimes creates an empty backup!

anaconda It's just come back to me that I had to go to my phone manufacturer's website and download the most up-to-date drives before it worked on my home PC (Win 10), but I could get get it to work on my work PC (Win7). Beyond that, I'm out of ideas!

Very sorry to hear it. Unfortunately, the game files are locked behind Android's root wall and cannot be accessed by just snagging the public folders

Well i guess shit happens lol but on the positive side, least if i replay it, i know what to expect and doing my skills better lol i am thinking about buying a premium character or 2 and trying it out but i am not sure what i could replace for a quicker gameplay lol i love aoe and also need greater accuracy to avoid missing. I will try other options within my free time and see if there is any other way i can switch the game to other devices. If i do, i will let you all know
