That's some trick. Maybe you wanted 'almost any oxygen-containing gas'? Otherwise I want to see how this works in a room of pure helium.

Considering that our own atmosphere is mostly nitrogen (78%) and only about 20% oxygen...
You guys are splitting hairs.
Having a completely oxygen free atmosphere would take active preparations or an industrial accident (which is kind of what this gas release situation represents). On our planet, it would take a specially engineered room that was purposefully filled with helium to get something with no oxygen for these lungs to extract.
LordofSyn, I caught what you were getting at. However, halon fire supression systems do not absorb oxygen like most urban myths say, they bond with active hydrogen that pushes the combustion reaction.
Just sayin, yo.

And the end result isn't pretty regardless of how you describe it. I merely chose Halon because of said binding receptors. Oxygen is caustic. It eats everything. its better to breathe less, however...our bodies have evolved pretty damn well to take in our Nitrogen/Hydrogen/Carbon Monoxide and Carbon Dioxide [finally oxygen] rich atmosphere... all from fish. ...now that's splitting hairs...lol/ as for the implant, it would be better to say extraction and filteration. That is what it does. i like Breathe-Right strips... ;D ;D |
