A sacristry is a storeroom, yes. It's just that 'sanctuary' isn't part of a church. If you the idea is to invoke the notion of 'the Church as sanctuary', then, well, the whole churchyard is, so if you are at the front door of a Church building you are already in the sanctuary. Not that invoking the right of sanctuary is going to do you any good in this day and age, let alone in 2217.
