You also have aliens to worry about, regardless of profession. For impossible difficulty (assuming anyone here actually plays on impossible) the best way to beat aiens is to have a high enough warrior to beat them by boarding, or to have a high enough pilot to be able to sucesfully ram them until your hul is breachd, in which at that point an installed escape shuttle will allow you to escape.
I tried getting a fast ship and investing almost exclusively on stealth. I got upto lv 190, then was encountered by an alien I couldn't escape from nor torp and died. Second time I died lv 80. On difficulties insane or impossible, you need to invest rediculously in pilot or warrior to survive. On diffulties lower than insane however, you can just invest a lot in stealth and you'll be fine.

Hahaha, sorry, I'll leave the exercise of digging up old forum posts to other people who aren't trying to code two new games and simultaneously support 3 existing ones. Found it! startradersrpg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rules&action=display&thread=3151 You're right cory. Sorry. Wait... two? You're curently working on steel AND st2 at the same time? My god, that must be exausting. I couldn't even do one

I play Impossible (and then for a bit of light release, I drop down to Crazy). Of the few captains that made it above level 90, only one had a warrior skill more than 20 (he had 26). Of course, he died in the hands of an Alien, which kind of reinforces your comments, but if it weren't for that cursed alien, he would have continued on with high pilot and tactics as his primary focus.

But that's the point. That's why you need either a really high warrior skill with high crew numbers and weapons to defeate aliens or a really high pilot skill with an agile ship and an escape shuttle so you can breach your own hull ramming the enemy alien and escape (not a high pilot skill will result in you not being able to succesfully ram enemy alien)
On impossible, once your past lv 30, as long as yo play your cards right your almost set. Keep freindly with every faction so no one executes you, have an escape shuttle to protect from hul breach, and at that level you have enough credits to be able to pay for ship repairs and wound repairs easily. So as long as you're smart, the only thing left to worry about is aliens. There's no way around them. You have to encounter them sooner or later.

Once you've got an Escape Shuttle the Alien is something you can defeat without Warrior, Pilot and Strength are the keys to that. Pilot, Strength, Agile Ship and Ram.

I should never try to use the creation of new games as an excuse for not supporting existing ones. Forgive me for that, I apologize. Thanks again for your tireless support.
