I'm a cybersword, with brawling of 6. I cannot see any difference in my brawling skills between me using chipped skills 1 and 3 (or no implant at all). It does improve my ability to shoot guns that don't have significant amount of accuracy. I cannot see that it improves my ability to shoot ones that are accurate, though. Since it is not clear to me what stealth is used for, I don't know how to measure if I am getting a boost.

you can't see it in your stats page?

No, in the stats page just fine -- its in my ability to taser things more effectively that I am not seeing a noticeable difference.

So you are saying that +3 skills does not seem to make enough of a difference?

yes -- or maybe the difference between 6 and 9 isn't significant -- it may be that the difference between 0 and 3 is. But I am still missing far more punches than I land, and I don't see myself landing more with 6 +3 is 9 than with 6.
If you gave me a phone with a character to play, I couldn't tell without looking whether the character had chipped skills 1, 3, or none at all when it comes to brawling.

Aye, I can concur with that.
But there IS some difference between a skill level of 3 versus that of 9. From what I experienced so far, any skill points from 1-4 does not seem to have much of an impact. Heck, make that 1-7.
I just figured that levels 1-7 are just filler points to throw into that sinkhole before you could start actually improving your character.

The raw math [/li][li] just doesn't agree, but then player perceptions and the actual statistics are often world's apart

I just think that when you leave the cyber clinic, having bought something, you should get the sense of 'ah, yes, I am now better at ...' And for chipped skills, I am not getting the feeling for brawling. For firearms -- I do get the sense that I can now use an inaccurate weapon and get the same sort of results that I was getting with an accurate one, but not the sense that my abilities using an accurate weapon have immproved.
My skills:
Body: 6[9] str: 6 athletics 6[8] brawling: 6[9]
dex: 6 stealth: 5[8] firearms: 5[8]
intelligence: 6 elect: 6[7] hacking 1[3]
percept: 6 negotiate 6 intimidate: 6

How accurate is that "accurate" weapon, grav? If you're already scoring head-shots every time you pull the trigger, I don't see how much more accurate could you get. Also, I'm sure there's some kinda "critical fail" result somewhere. But, I'm just guessing and needs Cory's validation.

How did they survive THAT long? Damn hackers...

here is one thing to consider -- monsters do not wear armor so they use a normalized defensive soak value which is skewed to be averaged for both melee and ranged.
at this point, because weapons don't have a working penetration damage scale, monsters can't wear armor. therefore, we use this averaged scale.
the averaged scale disadvantages melee combat by approx. 23-25% over the armor sets monsters will use following the combat v7 release.
this may be part of the issue in that combat effectiveness maximum for melee is less than it is at optimum range by a large amount.

no the 250,000 turns was no one one character it was several thousand, some of them seeded with pre-made high XP setups.
QUESTION:
Do you think "QUICK START" would be a good Elite only feature for Sandbox?

Also, I'm sure there's some kinda "critical fail" result somewhere. But, I'm just guessing and needs Cory's validation. I'm not landing shots all the time -- or even a majority of the time. I generally start my characters off with the Yakashima Mk251 Bounty (with the size 5 carbine). Power 6, accuracy 5, range 6, AP 4, speed 2. I land a very noticeably higher percentage of my shots than with an accuracy 2 or accuracy 1 rifle. When firearms improves enough I switch to something with more power, but lower accuracy. And the chipped skills really work here in making it sooner that you can move to a more powerful gun. But I don't see them improving my performance on the Mk251 bounty all that much -- I still miss more often than not, even with skill level 6[9]

QUESTION: Do you think "QUICK START" would be a good Elite only feature for Sandbox? Depends on what you would put in the quickstart. If you got a computer with 2 jobs, enough money that you could immediately get a better rifle and a taser, and some armour yes I would find it very useful. What were you thinking of putting into the Accelerated start?
