and my main point is that this is a great discussion but is not something we can change due to technical restrictions in the game's design and our commitment to compatible saved games.

Since there's a 50/50 perspective, maybe you bros could be the referees while both sides duke it out in melee combat ala Wuxia-Style?

there are no less than 50 threads about this where i have explained the situation. Okay, over 50 threads tells me I'm not the only one asking for this... anyway, I tried. I'm done. It's obviously YOUR GAME (and ego). I'll just leave appropriate feedback. (It will be easy to spot on the market.)

I have made huge technical mistakes in the implementation of Star Traders RPG. I designed it before I ever intended to share it. The way that the game works is not something that I can change without wide and sweeping side effects.
